So about a week ago, I got some food from the deli. They never ring me up at the deli. Instead,I always go to Starbucks or Uscan. I went to Starbucks. The food was scanned, I slid my credit card, pin pad made beep sound, I was told I was good to go and left. 10 minutes later while upstairs I'm called to customer service. They tell me my card didn't go through. I go to Star to pay again but they say they need the barcode off the food. I make my displeasure felt because I've had problems with the barista who ringed me has messed up before. He really doesn't know what he is doing. I ask if I can come back again and pay after my lunch. I was told that was fine.
At the end of my lunch, I go back down to Star and a different barista tells me that perhaps I should talk to a manager about not having to pay because of the inconvenience. I agree and leave. A couple minutes later I decided to just pay during my next break, which I did. However I didnt pay at Starbucks. I paid at a non express register. FIVE days later, Im asked if I hqve a receipt. I look at the manager like he's crazy it been 5 days.
The employee who eventually checked me out, wrote a statement that had paid. Will Corporate care as long as they see I eventually paid before leaving the building? I even printed out my credit card statement.
Jesus, from the all the information your have provided any normal manger would have said "Next time just make sure you have the receipt before you go upstairs". Technically, you should have had a receipt, but you showed intend and technically I would argue was the barista written up for improper checkout, not expecting payment? Their responsible to make sure all customer pay the merchandise that was rang up. Did you scan your shoppers card/discount card? If you did, they can track all the information they need with that. I see so many wholes where I would argue......If people had knowledge of my "theft" why did you wait 5 days? What proof do they have that I actually consumed any product? Get a statement from the person at customer service saying what happened..... What happened to the order that was on the Starbucks register? The would have to suspend or void the transaction......
Situations like this are the reason why people get pissed of with the company. If you were trying to steal, you would not have went to Starbucks or tried to pay for it in the beginning. Every situation isn't black and white and this situation sounds completely like a mistake and you tried to correct. I personally, would have went upstairs and got you and rang you out or told you to bring the stuff downstairs when your break is up and I would ring you out.

Yeah, they voided the transaction. Not sure If I used my Kroger card. The union said they should have just checked the cameras. I told the manager some of the same things you mentioned: Why the hell does this have to go to corporate?? The Batista should be in at least a little trouble. Only thing I was guilty of was not asking for a receipt which I never really feel is important until now.

Haha, actually it doesn't go to corporate, it goes to the Division HR Department. If your Union Contract is similar to our local, your Store Manager could have basically thrown out the write up or just noted it as a warning. I'm guessing the person that wrote you up is a newer Store Manger/Co-Manager that "is just following the rules". If I was your Department Head and you told me all this and all the other people said what you wrote, I would have given the Store Manage/Co-Manager a piece of my mind and got it voided. Checking the camera isn't even needed, you showed the desire to pay, it didn't process, you took responsibility when it was reported to you, you paid, if it was a theft why 5 days to be suspended, WHAT INVESTIGATION DID THE STORE PERFORM? The company has changed so much, its funny how we have company core values, but yet you seemed to be living them and got the boot.
Honesty= You acknowledged that something didn't happen correctly, you resolved the issue (paid)
Integrity = You acknowledged that something didn't happen correctly, you resolved the issue (paid)
Respect = You followed the instructions that you were provided when your were were trying to pay.
and you were only trying to "Make it Right" Always use organizational language..... its kinda a "I living what you want me to be" and kinda a F@#@ Y#$#

He's a newer Co manager but was a manager at a different store. The words he used was "Corporate has to do an investigation, and is the only one who can track the purchase if I did actually scan my Kroger card". Is there a way I can speak to Division HR directly?I have in the past as I was supposed to be a Co manger myself after graduating from college.
If you contact the Division Office, just ask to speak to someone in HR about a employee issue or try and contact the District HR Coordinator or District Manager. While, Kroger is a great company, know what your getting into and look at other opportunities before you just jump at Co-Manager after graduating. He's a Co-Managers now, but was a STORE MANAGER ? Right there means, he doesn't know how Kroger works....make sure your friends at work know whats going on. It might sound bad, but the more heat that is make of this, the easier is it to see its a misunderstanding. Someone that steals isn't going to try to defend themselves and go overboard to defend their name.

LOL NO. They could just get the bookkeeper or front end manager to use scan t-log to search for use of your K+ card
Haha, This would be something I would have done if researching it after the fast with less information. From the information provided it all sounds like a misunderstanding and something that would have been resolved with talking to 3 people.
But going forward remember.....T-LOGS and other functions in ACE/POS are not really taught to associates.
Just had the second grievance meeting last week. They (HR) were actually able to look up the transaction and see I paid. Today they still said they would not end the suspension. Only asked for half back pay. They are so messed up.

They have let a few employees at my store steal for months and months. One cashier they let her steal for 9 months until they had her for over $1200 in theft and then had her arrested for felony theft. Right now they're watching a Starbucks employee who gives her friends free drinks
