Yes, because you're still in the probationary period. Under our contract they can just let you go for any reason.

Interesting, cause there's this cashier that got hired last month and all this week I see that they're on LOA. Wonder if they're coming back.

I'd say it depends on how much management likes them. It's hard to say really. I've seen some new hires get away with bloody murder and others are let go for minor offenses.

it's dependent on what it is.

if it's health reasons shouldn't be a problem

school shouldn't be a problem too

but they can deny LOA too if its neither of those

Yes.  You are still under probationary and thus could be terminated.  The only exception is fmla or doctor leave.  By law I believe it's six months (twelve weeks) you can have off.  It needs to be doctor approved though.

Well it's been about a month now. And that cashier I mentioned that had that LOA didn't come back. I guess they had put in their two weeks and quit.
