nosy customers asking if you go to school
Permalink

You ever get those customers who ask you if you go to school after some casual small talk? Like for example you said you were tired, and then they ask you if you go to school. But then they judge you based on if you say yes or no.

If you say no, they ask you why not. Then ask you what you plan on doing with your life. Almost like they want to ask you what the **** are you doing here?

If you say yes, they want specifics. What school, what major, etc.

How about replying:  "Well, I'm IN school right now, it's called the KROGER SCHOOL OF HARD KNOCKS" !!!

We get these cute little heart-shaped stickers, we are scored and graded constantly for various things, and I'm sure lookin' forward to my school day being over this afternoon so I can go home and relax a little!

Today's hourly non management retail jobs aren't meant to last beyond age 25 at most. Restaurant servers and cosmeticians have a slight advantage over that and can succesfully make a life long 'career' of being a wait staff or esthetician based on tips and a devoted clientelle.

There are rare exceptions of uionized retail jobs where the long term employees have been grandfathered into a decent living, but new employees just starting will never see that same level of success.

Mostly these age 25 - ^ are dead-end mc jobs that, generally, are held by persons with substance abuse/mental issues. If you don't fit into those categories and are approaching age 24.5, you need to start making real plans for your future.

That's likely he motivation behind these questions you're hearing, and you should take it as a positive encouragement.

And if you politely say, youd rather not say, your labeled as "rude", the invasive customer gets a giftcard for the "insult" and you get a "coaching" with management.

Until you're too old to be of any more value to your unskilled job, get replaced, and have enothing but time to regret having not made better career moves. Because you were too busy joking.

Are you a Kroger employee? How old are you? How long have you worked for Kroger? Do you have a substance abuse problem? It's obvious you have mental issues?
