Are hours being cut for all locations?

I work at the front end as a cashier, and my hours went down from 28 to 22 hours next week.

Is this happening at all locations?

Yes, they're doing it so part time employees don't bump to regular(average 30 hours or more) and get benefits FT employees do. They're doing it at ours too. They're trying to keep everyone at around 20. My supervisor said it probably won't last long for our crew. Not sure about everyone else

Yes because never in the history of Kroger has a cashier had their hours cut.

In reality it all depends on associate availability and how many cashier there are. I always told my clerk, the more people we hire the less hours people get. Yes, there was a unspoken rule that associates should not be schedule over XXX hours, but that normally went out the window FAST. I always told my clerk, the more dependable and reliable, if you ask me if you can come in early/work later or work on a off day.... YES.

So will our hours increase in the near future?

Nope, hours never really go up...haha Even if you have sales increase, with "productivity improvement" you never really see more hours year after year. You have to remember, #### are working against everyone. For 1 hours to be added a week x2600 stores with a person making $10.00 hour = $1,352,000....so just think about the justification for any hours being added in ELMS.

So are we stuck at what we are currently getting until further notice?

My store apparently owes 1600 hrs. So they plan on cutting 100+hrs a week for at least 13-16 weeks.

Department heads and leads are mentally checked out. Uplifting right?

Hours are always cut during holiday weeks because many employers get paid for Memorial Day.

Busy holiday weekend - scheduled hours = highly satisfied customers! That's the winning formula Kroger insists on during holiday weeks and other peak times. Always remember, our customers are great!

All the things you don't want (as an associate), plus a whole lot more!

Unless a big PR event happens, this is the store for all retail.  With Amazon taking over and retail changing, expect to see less hours and more expectations.  Companies are only in business to make money and return value to their shareholders.  If you ask any Manager employee expense is the largest controllable variable/cost to run a store.
