Ive been working at Kroger for about a week now and I have slowly but surely learned new things everyday. Ive been cashiering for 2 days and it will be a while before I become comfortable moving/scanning fast, and not having anxiety with long lines and customers having a lot of items. Also a lot of times my courtesy clerks leave and Im left to bag items and finish transaction like getting change and receipts at the same time.
But this week On my schedule it says Im going to be doing front end file maintenance overnight. I know thats putting tags on the shelf but I know theres more to it. It cant be that simple. Is there paper work and a price gun involved and if so how does it work. Also is there any way I can just do file maintenance without cashiering. It seems that I have to be a cashier in order to do file maintenance. Thank
There is a file lead that is the boss of the "department" and that person is going to be doing the more involved work. Since you are a cashier you will be part of the tag team that is only putting up tags. It is possible that the file lead will have you check prices and print tags using the handheld but 99% of what you will be doing is putting up tags. If you continue working file you may eventually help out with printing signs too. The file clerks are all front end clerks as file maintenance is a sub department of the front end. Oh ya, if you are not the file lead then you would only be working two nights per week in file unless the store is big and has a back up file clerk that gets 40 hours.
