I'm posting this so I, along with others can vent/talk about an unfortunate experience they had with a customer. Feel free to add multiple stories if you'd like.
Today there was a man asking for a product, I felt very confident I knew where it was and told him it was near the organic milk in produce. Soon after, he comes back to me saying "it wasn't there," I tried to tell him I was sorry and I'd try to help, but he interrupted me and said "You people work here you should know where things are", and he just walked away with his cart. I let it go because it seemed like he didn't want my help anymore. I felt very frustrated over it but I got over it. A fellow employee came up to me minutes later telling me that the customer accused me of "ignoring him" and not helping him, when he actually interrupted me and walked off. I defended myself, and then the whole thing was just over. Ever since the incident it's really been bothering me. I tend to blame myself even when I'm in the right though, and it pondering over it just kept pushing my mood down. It sucks because I helped so many customers today and I was able to find exactly what they wanted, but that one incident with that ******* seemed to wash away all the positives.
If you are able to walk with a customer to the product, then do it. 3As, Acknowledge, Assist and Appreciate. I do not think cashiers are able to walk away from the front end....
Hopefully, it wasn't a mystery shopper... I doubt it or you would have heard from a store manager already.
You can't make every customer happy but always try your best to assist customers in the best way possible.

I've had a few customers like this. All they want to do is cause trouble no matter how helpful you are to them. And they'll go behind your back to snitch about you to a manager, hoping to get you fired. As if that's going to bring them some sort of satisfaction. But the managers I've had, backed me up and brushed them off. Hopefully, the managers at your store know to do the same.
You don't know where X item is, or if it's in stock, or how many different variations of it the store sells. That's okay, Kroger doesn't train us to know every single thing about every single whatever. That's what the store managers are there for. So they can be asked that sort of stuff. If a customer doesn't want to wait for you to get a manager for this information, then they can shove their crap where the sun don't shine.

This is why Im happy I work overnight I dont have to deal with these stupid people
We should NOT have to "walk with a customer" to a product-this is NOT Office Depot-besides front end people are too busy with their own jobs to do this. Are you NUTS?

He said IF you are able to. As in, if you are on the sales floor, not up on a register.
Most of the time people are happy if you just tell them where an item is, but that's not enough for the customer connection shops.
For my first few years in retail I was great with customer service....but that got wore down over time, like coroded enamel on rotten teeth. I turned into a complegte ass hat you seriously did not wanna deal with, surprised I didn't get fired, lol
Yeah.. One time I helped a customer and they smelled like horse ****. Any time I help a customer and if they smell like sh!t I tell them I'll brb I have to help this other customer real quick. And you guessed it I don't come back.
Yeah I once had a chick want help in the dairy dept. and we were out of this special kind of yougurt she wanted and I told her that and she didn't believe me she said 'show me' so I broke the rules I took her back into the cooler and showed her and she was mad and but then she said 'I still wnt my yogurt' so I said I don't know what to tell you, it shud be in on the next truck and she said I bet it's in your zipper truck and she pulled my dick out and sucked me off pretty good and she said 'see? yogurt!' and hmmm come to think of it
I guess that wasn't really an unfortunate experience after all!
There's not many extreme couponers left. One comes up. She's a hateful smelly old woman in an electric cart.
I despise extreme couponers and I always give them a hard time.
She looks at me, goes to the next cashier, and I feel like I dodged a bullet.
She had a handful of coupons for every single item and a mountain of completely random coupons like "Save $5 on seafood when you buy X wine". She didn't get wine nor seafood nor any of the other random coupon items.
Half an hour later, she is still there.
And I am gagging. I wouldn't be surprised if she went out of her way to stink just so cashiers would try to speed her through. Or maybe she's just a crazy old bat.
She didn't even come through my line and it was awful.
