Have any stores started this new order evolution thing yet? Anyone have any details? Apparently, they are doing away with CAO from what I've heard. It sucks being a department head and having to hear about stuff like this from the grapevine.
All I know is that we have to take a few computer lessons explaining it but I'd rather hear more from you folks about this whole mess. Is it beneficial? Is it another one of the company's "grand ideas"?
Thanks for the reply. And yeah, for my district, the time is NOW. They already have people in my store doing the computer courses. Even my old department manager from another store called me and said they've got him doing it too. Hmm. Anyway, hold on to your butts.

They are just tweaking cao. The min change every week, you have to scan lows and holes, you have to scan backstock. It's not that big a deal.
Oh okay. So as long as you're doing your job, you shouldn't have to worry? Whew. I was off the day they held a huddle about it so I'm very much out of the loop.
You may find minimums, for example, reset to inappropriately high numbers, against your will. When you look to see "who" did it, the culprit is "Auto Act".
(Maybe a company that can't or won't repair pallet jacks shouldn't dink around with HAL 9000 systems.)

And bump your BOH high enough so it doesn't come in. Play the computer's game.
OE works as long as you have your backstock carts set up with slow movers and active movers. Run active carts everyday, slow movers once a week, then run truck, do residual scan and place backstock on appropriate cart, then scan lows and holes, then do exceptions at the end.
Grocery department lead for 21 years. It's the least stressed I have ever been. There are hiccups from time to time but if you do the process it really does work.
It takes about 90 minutes to run active. Takes about 4 hours to run slow movers once a week. seriously it is now way much better. But you have to do all those things everyday for it to work.

That's well and good but how many people do you have to run those carts? On a backstock night I have enough hours to have two people, including myself.
Same boat where we only have two of us and sometimes just me and we do over 500k a week. My days are like this. Residuals from previous night if we had truck and there is back stock, work sales items to floor to fill shelf and run pallets to areas for sales display, run back stock u boats, unload truck/sometimes help breaking load down, work water, lows and holes (which I am not very good at since I scan 400-500 scans with little changes and creating pick list) and exceptions, oh and all of this while I am ruining around the store for customers and MOD duties. Then just to have higher ups ask me why this and that wasn't done??
