Should be 45 if you clock back in. Make sure you watch for the policies and state laws and take your proper breaks.

If you want to take a 45 minute lunch, you can do one of two things:

1. Take a 30 minute lunch. Punch in. Wait a minute and punch out for a 15 minute break.

2. Take a 45 minute lunch and then work 15 minutes past your scheduled end of shift time.

What happens if you can't get the breaks you are supposed to get by your union contract? I work 8 hr shifts and can only ever get one 15 minute break. Not even a lunch

You will not get paid for 45 min . If you took a 54 min break you would not get paid an hour . If you took a 37 min break you would not get paid for 30 min. If you took a 38 min break you would not get paid for 45 min. You have a 7 min hole. 8 min or more takes you to the nearest quarter (15 min).

That happens a lot. You have to just take it. If you don't there's nothing that can be done. The Union says you get it, take it. Nothing can be done to you, if you take a break that is yours.
