You would think a co-manager would be smart enough NOT to...

... play around with an hourly employee. Come on... this is Kroger. Practically everyone is in everyone else's business. If something is going on between two people, you can be darned sure it will be all over the store before long. Not much stays secret in Kroger stores and that's why you SHOULDN'T say anything that you wouldn't want to get around... because it WILL get around, even IF you think the person you're telling it to is trustworthy. Look, I've worked with some great co-workers in the past, but I also know that whether it's the front end, deli or whatever, gossip and whatnot is one thing that a lot of Kroger employees AND salaried members of management excel at. 

So, not only should this now ex-member of the Kroger company have known that it was improper and unprofessional to mess around with an hourly employee, but he should have also been aware enough of the environment inside Kroger stores to know there was NO WAY this was going to stay under the radar. Oh well. Expensive lesson learned on his part... maybe. Who knows.

Well if you work in my district, you can be a co-manager, blatantly obviously sleeping with an hourly employee, and not only do they both still have their jobs, it was highly encouraged by way too many co-workers who thought their relationship was "Cute", despite that the guy she cheated on was devastated to the point that he almost killed himself, gave up his job because he was sick of said co-manager shoving it in his face, AND to top it all off, said female is now promoted to clicklist supervisor in another store. Sleeping with management paid off for her!

Anyone in my area of district 1 probably knows exactly who i'm talking about but idc. Wondering how this comanager you speak of got fired while the one i know is still seen as a great guy by way too many people.

In my Division they won't fire, just move them to another store. Or the hourly quits before it becomes serious. My former store manager's wife worked at Kroger, and he met her when she was an hourly and he was an ASM. No one blinked an eye. Co-Manager was sleeping with the assistant FEM for over a year and now she's a Clicklist Manager at another store so they're open about it now, but everyone knew. Years ago one co-manager was caught giving oral sex to the FEM on his desk and they just moved him. She's still the FEM lol. And yes, it can be too good to pass up, I've bagged four so far but I'm not in management, two of 'em married. Working on a fifth.

We had a co-manager carrying on with the Starbucks lead in the store (utility closets, changing room), and doing flirty horseplay on the sales floor. He had been moved to our store for carrying on with a Starbucks girl at another store.

She was a headcase herself, hitting on the married men at our store. They finally moved him on, and demoted her back to the deli.
