Is everyone else getting hit hard by all these "add outs" and "distros" for whatever sale we have going on? It's getting to the point in my store that at least one lead is considering stepping down over it. Our last walk through the grocery merchandising manager told us they can cut them starting this spring, but that's what they said in July, and earlier this year. Seriously?
Yeah, ever since they started getting stricter and stricter about displays and making sure every store is alike as possible, the distros have become a huge huge issue, because they dont let use flex it out onto the floor and makeup for the unsold product. If you have a bad lead thats stupid enough to order on top of the distros or keep the display too full for too long, then your dept is ****ed, 5S goes out the window along with organization and process. Its a slippery slope and once it falls it takes weeks to get back on track.
4 Day sale tyson chicken, they sent 5 pallets of it. I have 3 pallets left. Cannot use any display space to run through, can't drop price low enough to move it, no labor hours to deal with it. It's definitely getting out of hand.
That damn tyson **** was in the door forever and didn't sell. I got a whole pallet and now have a wall of chicken! The holidays are coming and i don't have space in the freezer as it is
But the issues on the Coordinators/Division Meat Merch. to decide what to do. I would say you need to request a return or price markdown.
Never heard of being able to return any of this distro product. In my store we've been marking the stuff down on in-store special however the grocery merch. told us to use markdown labels instead as that would "tell cao not to order more of this product"....
They normally do not like "returns" to the warehouse, but I have seen it happen before. I have only seen "returns" for a pallet of items...no just a few boxes.

It's easier to get it sent to another store. Our store receives a lot of Simple Truth stuff and we're in a poor area, can't sell it. However ASM used to work at a store that sells a lot of organics and has good relationships with them still, so anytime we get way too much they're always willing to take it because they move it anyway.
We got 3 pallets of frozen tyson chicken at our store. I'm the only one who has to put it up though since they cut frozen hours and I only get a guy for 4 hours. I'm doing atleast 43 to 47 hours a week. It's gonna' be even worse during the holiday. I'm gonna' try to mark it down so the pallet can get out of here. This whole distros thing majority of the time doesn't sell at all, so you're left with a ton of it. Either mark it down or change the price.
