Woman came in and asked the MOD if she "could leave some information"-turns out she went into our breakroom and dumped a bunch of JW garbage in there. I recognized her as she tried to lure me in (said it was a New Year's party at a hotel I looked it up it was a JW recruitment event.) When I told her she couldn't leave this type of literature in our breakroom she panicked and left the store quite fast-I let my manager know also.
No soliciting what so ever. Cant even leave flyers in the break room. that stuff has to be approved by store management and the main office. I do know Girl Scouts and the track phone are allowed to but they have to schedule times with the division office.
It would be considered soliciting and would be against company policy by me, I'd ask them to identify the type of thing they are promoting, and if not in line with our practices, ask them to leave while explaining our policy and go on my way. If i see them again, report to management and LP for their action on trespassing the visitor

Soliciting to customers is prohibited, except for Girl/Boy Scouts, and other partner companies. The Store Manager has some freedom depending on the situation, but normally it can do anything with religion or political affiliation. If someone wanted to provide information/discounts coupons to the associates as long as its not a political/religions organisation, I would have taken the items and just placed them in the breakroom. The only people that should be in the breakroom or non-customer areas are stores associates.
We have had coupons for various services such as car loans, cell phones, hair salons and the like. The JWs drop the literature all over the store and when I do my store sweeps I pick it up and throw it out
I scared one as they kept harassing me at the fuel center while I was trying to do the morning scan of all products (I was bored enough to do that, yes, it pleased management though as it kept the lows and holes down). He asked if I believed in Jesus and I said in a deep voice "no, I worship Satan." He never returned.
Oh, speaking of the fuel center. Another person, a lady was very insistent on me taking their literature after I told her that I was busy. I asked her "does it make good rolling paper?" She looked so shocked and disappeared after that. I was not harassed by any of them again after the two instances. I found it rather rude that they kept bothering me while I was trying to do important office work. Less memorable episodes ended with "look, I will only take your literature if you bought a candy bar, a stick of gum, a soda, anything. I won't take it unless you buy something." They tell me that they have no money on them and leave.
One can get the kroger policy from their official website krogerfeedback. Here I am kroger employee and working on kroger feedback through krgrfeedback.com/
i am buddhist, and i would gladly allow JW, muslim, scientology, etc literature if it meant that i could distribute my own this country is not one where it seems you're allowed to talk about religion, even though there is 'freedom of religion'. still, i like to put scriptures in surveys; for example, 'whatever is of a nature to arise, all that is of a nature to cease.' ~ the buddha :)
