Mark downs
Permalink

Okay! Every day we have to mark down items that are to be sold bt the next day. In our department a few of us mark down the items to 0.99. A couple of times when we've done this someone has come along and took the mark down tags off of our items, to put them on other things they are buying. We were thinking it was customers. Today I seen an employee doing it. I want to inform management, but I don't want to be the snitch that gets that employee fired. It isn't right that they are doing this, though. I'm thinking that this person grabs them then has a family member or friend come in and buy the items they are putting them on. So what should I do? Should I just mention to my Lead or someone in my department that I seen an employee doing this? Or should I say who the employee is?

Mention it to the Department Manager or Store Management, your job isn't to protect anyone from doing something obviously wrong. People always do stuff if they know there are no repercussions.....

Hell yes burn em, or it could come back on you. You've got items selling for discounts you didn't provide----on your watch!

Yes, do as EUID said.

When you log into mark down mode, it should ask, "Are you sure you want to proceed?"  I accidentally enter wrong function when I am scanning out non saleable damage.

Those mark downs are under your user ID.  You could be held accountable for them.  Those labels should fall apart when someone tries to remove them.

You can't control what shifty customers/employees do but definitely make management aware of your observation.

What kinds of items are they able to remove the markdown stickers from? In my experience (mostly in produce) if the markdown stickers are applied well to the product, (as they should be) they are VERY hard to remove, since the glue is STICKY! and there is a thin perforation so the sticker tears apart if someone tries to pull them off.

Don't the markdown stickers still have the name of the item on them?  If someone takes a markdown sticker from a loaf of bread and sticks it on something more expensive, it's going to show up as a loaf of bread when the item is scanned.  The checkers should watch for stuff like that.

One more thing:  The past tense of the verb to see is saw.  You saw an employee.  You don't say you seen an employee.  You only use seen if it follows has, have or had.  I have seen. He has seen.  I had seen.

Yes absolutely tell someone, this happened on YOUR watch in (I assume) your dept, and you could (and will if they find out) get blamed for it.
