Some asshat decided to bump me from my vacation and i didnt find out until the last minute. I already made plans which i REFUSE to change. How much trpuble will i be in for taking my vacation despite me being bumped? Yes, i saw the schedule before and after it was changed, but i am acting like "i didnt know, or bothered to read the revisedp5xhh schedule." Where it said my name was vacation. The revised schedule had the vacation crossed out eith the word 'bumped' in its place and a schedule jotted down. If i say i didnt see the schedule or hear them say 'associates please see the revised schedule posted.' I am in the clear right?
Talk to both management and your department head to get some answers. Is there someone higher in seniority than you? They might have put in for vacation time for the same week.

Talk to your union steward. They should have a copy of all the vacation schedules for each department. If you had your vacation on the official vacation calendar by the cutoff date and it was approved, they can't take it away. If the other person also had their vacation down on the vacation calendar for the same week, then the store has to let both of you go on vacation the same week. There's a reason there's a gap between the time vacations are suppose to be chosen and the time they're approved. It's so they can catch things like too many people in one department trying to go on vacarion the same week. If management didn't catch it at the time, it's too late. If the other person didn't put their vacation on the official vacation calendar, then they can't go the same week you're going, even if they have more seniority. In this case, the vacation calendar trumps seniority.

Of course you're not in the clear. Everything was spelled out on the schedule right in front of you, and you're fully obligated to be aware of it.

Management knows nothing about such things nor do they care. Way to give false info.... talk to dept head OP

Take another look at what I said. Management AND DEPARTMENT HEAD. Also what the other anon said about the Union Steward should help the OP get as much info as possible.

If it showed it was approved on ExpressHR they can't do that, but if it wasn't they can bc you can be bumped by seniority if only 1 person can take leave. I would check the ExpressHR and also talk to management, your department head, and your union rep about that
Once there was a time when the co-manager was writing the schedule and didn't see/missed that the dept head and employee BOTH requested the same week off...Turns out that co-manager approved the vacation of the employee well ahead of time and didn't realize until the very last minute that the dept head was taking that week off...Because of a small co-manager undersight when checking the vacation schedule sheets, both ended up with the same week off...Fortunately, everything worked out and there was still coverage that week...
By the way, I always go by whatever the managers approve at the time of the approval...Note those dates on the calendar and don't stray from them...Once management approves a particular week, it's "set in stone" for me, as MANAGEMENT approved it...Make copies of the APPROVED schedule, too! Employees can often have plans, too, that are not that easy to change...As always, one can take it up with a manager they trust in or their dept manager, if there is an issue...In our store, these things are usually worked out for the benefit of everyone...
