Don't Sell Yourself Short For Kroger
Permalink

The economy is looking good right now.  If you got a car, a place to live, Internet and cellphone, you can look for other employment.  We talk about how Kroger sucks daily, but let's be honest with ourselves here, Is kroger going to change?  Nope!  Can you change?  Yes!  Don't sell yourself short.  Why, because I did for 5 years hoping for a management position with better pay, but didn't get it.  Instead, got a frozen lead position which I liked for almost a year+ until they knocked my hours down to 50+ a week.  It was only a dollar increase which wasn't much to be honest.  Save your money and look for work elsewhere.  There's merchandiser jobs ( coke, pepsi, nestle, nabisco and wine ), trades that'll pay you more than 15+ an hour starting as an apprentice or work doing customer service with better pay and benefits.  These corporate psychopaths will never change their tune, despite their company failing each and everyday.  They'd rather see the ship sink than repair the boat with good labor.  WE all know that if you're a good worker and paid well, you're gonna' do a great job regardless.  Working hard for meager pay is stupid and selling yourself short.  Hell, lol even Walmart is starting people off at 12 - 13 dollars an hour.  Yes Walmart, the place everyone demonizes, but pays better.

I believe you about Walmart! They may say they pay better...Amazon may say the same thing...In regards to whether both of them are good companies to work for...well, that's another thing!no

Sometimes, we trade our bad problems for ones even worse...The grass is NOT always greener, folks!

Almost everyone on here bitches about how bad Kroger in particular and retail in general is, yet I never see anyone post happy ending stories about how they got up, made a plan, and got the hell out.

And I don't want to see any excuses justifying why you 'have' to stay there. You choose to do that. You're obviously getting something out of it, so quit bitching.

Or, get up, make a plan, and get the hell out.

Exactly.  This is what I'm doing.  The only thing I regret when I leave is how much time I wasted being here, but the job was a last resort to keep payments on my vehicle.  Nearly had two nervous breakdowns from this POS job.  I mentioned Wal-Mart of course.  Yes it's bad, BUT they pay more than Kroger and get bonuses every 90 days.  All of the good employees at my current Kroger are leaving for other jobs that'll pay better.  Honestly don't blame'em at all.  If there is opportunity, go for it and get the **** out.  No matter how many years you put into it, these fools aren't changing their tune.
