Like say you do a partial payment with a debit card, and the transaction has NOT been completed. Let's say you then void the transaction, does the money get immediately released to the card? Or does the customer have to wait like a couple business days for the money to be released by their bank?

A debit card is not charged until a transaction is completed.

It should take a few business days to be refunded, debit with PIN might be returned when Void. Its like when customers take their chip cards outs before authorization has been completed, they will see a charge and a few days later a credit.

Had some funny customer confrontations with idiots that dont know what it means to budget your money and not run your current bank balance into the ground...

funny story 1 was some guy mad about being charged twice. His bank put two charges on his card, whereas Krogers electronic card payment center only had one transaction. We felt bad for him, but again, we are not permitted nor going to do him a favor by refunding the extra charge that his bank is too slow to fix in a timely manner. Then he started threatening us, and its like oh look the kid is upset by rejection...and we dont do this for customers because it will go back to their account and then oops cash loss and hes one-up on the man.

funny story 2 was a lady trying to get cash back off her card. It was declined. Sad face. Her bank put a hold for the attempt. Wanted basically a $100 handout when it isnt even going to be charged to her.

Do I sympathize? Somewhat...it is strange how both were on SCO, so maybe its more likely to confuse banks? But I believe both customers had those funky not regular accounts (not a bank) that offer cash back (netspend or some ****).

We had practice with the first guy. So it was funny seeing the lady go (after I told her why not) I wanna talk to another manager, then tell him (after he said no and why) she wanted a store manager (then he said...) and she gonna call corporate and he snarkily gave his name.

It depends on the bank, but since it was voided it should release the funds the next day when the system settles the transactions overnight. This is largely out of the companies control
