Changes to wages and the 1059 Contract

Was just wondering if someone knew if we can find what was decided on after the vote. Like is it posted online some place or are we getting emailed about it, or what? As I keep hearing conflicted information back and forth all the time. And would really like to know what's going on and when things go into effect.

The raises go into effect on the 18th of this month. Starting pay went to $11 an hour for deli/bakery. IT depends where you are at for your current pay now to how much your raise will be. I dont see anything on the union website about the pay raises. I have my papers with me and I could tell you. Are you full time or part time? It also depends oN your pay right now. All full time employees at top pay get 40 cents an hour. If you are not at top pay your raise varies. If you are under $11 you will be bumped up in pay.

I work as a cashier in the SW division, & I am supposed to be getting $9.25 an hour at the end of January 2019. There is nothing in my profile about getting a pay raise higher than that much.

So exactly how much will I be earning per hour?

Hey, thanks so much for replying to my post. Yea, I had heard about the raises going up for bakery on the 18th and that for new hires and I think deli peeps were getting 11 something. I'm full-time(and been with the company for 2 years in August) and working in the Columbus division. Also making $8.75 right now. I've heard I'd get $13.25 from one of the bakery peeps. And someone in deli said it would just be 11 something for those hired after a particular date. And not sure if getting full-time in the middle of the summer last year would affect things as well or not.

But yea, this is why I was so confused as I had started out bakery and then went to deli and yet still get pulled back to bakery to help out there too a lot, still. Cause I know on my schedule some days even though it says deli, the bakery steals me for time down there. So would that mean I would get the pay of a bakery worker that day or just my usual deli pay? Has me confused all the way around. So appreciate you elaborating on things for me.

It sounds like your contract is being modeled after the Cincy/Dayton contract. Both deli and bakery got a bump to $11 an hour for us. So it shouldn't make a difference. But officially, are you in Express HR as a Bakery clerk or a deli clerk?

Your pay would be the same wether you work deli or bakery. If you are at $8.75 now you go to $11 starting next week. Then your raises would go from there until you hit top pay. I think where the person got the $13.25 an hour raise is a from the notation that says if a part time employee is promoted to full time for any reason that person will commence progression from the PT cap(36 month step) which is $13.25. From my understanding everyone that makes between $8.30 and $8.85 will jump to $11. But I could be wrong. Since we are getting our raises next week which is 11 weeks early for all the top pay people we wont see another raise until 2/9/20.

Im not sure. It would depend on your contract. This is just the information for local 1059 which in the Columbus division.

Oh wow. Well that is good then if it's going after your area. As I do recall mentioning, how nice it sounded to make as much as you had mentioned making where you are 4hr. So if that is the case, then yay, on that front. As to being classified as a deli or bakery clerk. I was always under deli even when I was part-time for bakery. Which I kind of thought was odd. But I was always told that since it's all one department, it didn't really matter. So I didn't think much of it. Save for when I first signed up for a full-time deli spot(which later got divided up into 4), and I figured it wouldn't be really all that hard for them to switch me over from working on one side of the department to the other. But yea, I've always been deli since day one for some reason.

Okay pay stays same for working either deli or bakery, gotcha. But now confused again. Does the notation apply prior to the negotiated terms or was that part of the changes as well? As that does sound familiar from what the pastry chef(the person that told me about the $13, bump) had mentioned. But she hadn't really mentioned if it was something that should have happened at the time I became full-time or no. And actually while talking about all of this, when you do initially get full-time, it is just a 10 cent raise at that time correct or no? Sorry for so many questions. Just the communication system is a real struggle at my store sometimes.

Yes when you initially get full time it is a 10 cent raise And then a raise every 6 months until you hit top pay. The notation didnt make sense to me either, I guess you wont kniw for sure until you get the paycheck that the payraise starts on.

Oh okay, thanks. And yea, won't know til the 18th. Either way though, I'll appreciate the boost all the same to to my pay. paying off my student loans next year, so I definitely need some kind of cash saved up before that point up for sure.

Okay so talked to the union lady today about the wage increase/pay. And she said that based on my pay and being full-time I'll get 11 bucks on the 18th. So at least now that is straightened out.

I work in the Columbus Division. I began on 11/14/2015 as a fuel clerk. I am now a "Deli/Coffee Shop Clerk" on official paperwork but I work primarily in the Deli (I did Starbucks for a brief time but did not personally like the position). I am a full time employee (been so since October 2016). I still am logged at 9.40. Do I get the raise next week?
