Do you ever feel like your store manager is just out to get you?

Do you ever feel like your store manager is just out to get you? Let me begin by saying that no one likes him. I work in meat, and we are very short handed constantly. We're several hours under budget. It's just me and one other guy closing. Store manager comes around with a list of things to do around 8 o'clock. I don't know how stuff works at y'all's stores, but at mine we have a lot of crap to do in the last two hours of our shifts. We try to start doing his list, but that's accompanied by our nightly duties like cleaning the cutting room, putting the truck in the cooler, cleaning the service case and everything else, and still helping customers. Me and the other guy both have to stop and cut something because it's a busy Friday night. We finish all of our nightly duties and some of his list, but alas, there's not enough time to finish it all, and it's already 10 o'clock. Per Union whatever in my division, they can't make you stay late. So we leave, and everything looks the same it does every night, but he complains on the goodclose sheet about everything we did. It says to give us a 'verbal warning', but I saw him today, and he said nothing. Anyone have any thoughts?

Document everything. Talk to your union rep IMMEDIATELY. With this manager, keep your cool, don't say or do anything to give him ammo, and just do your job.

Don't argue or try to reason with him. Tell him repeatedly 'I'm one person working one shift. I'm doing the best I can with what I've got.'

Sign NOTHING if he tries to write you up (refer back to the union rep advisory).

If it were me, I'd go ahead and get the ball rolling on this, and site this prick for creating a hostile work environment (those buzz words get legal attention real quick). Got a Kroger ethics hotline number? Drop dime on this guy.

If you're union, you're pretty safe unless they start writing you up. Contact the union though if they start giving you any type of verbal or written warnings. Where I'm at they have to give you like 100 verbal warnings, then 100 written warnings, then 50 suspensions before they can m fire you Obviously being sarcastic, but that's pretty much how it is. There are people that should be fired for being really bad workers who have continued there for years. Only times I've seen anybody fired is theft and calling a big wig a bitch.
