Vacation Blackout weeks

I put in for vacation Christmas week(Denied) understandable because I was told it was a blackout week and only one was able to take it per department. I put in for the following week which I'm going to assume isnt a blackout week 30-5 and was scheduled not denied. Is that a blackout week too or they just playing games? There is 4 new hires after this week ends so being short people isnt really a good excuse even if 2 of us took 1. The trucks are getting smaller by the day and definitely not to big if you just got all those new hires.

what you fail to mention is whether the newbies are able to do the same tasks as you?  how long have you been there?  I've been at kroger 14 years and will work Christmas eve and new years day (though only because of a medical issue, so I'm not complaining).  I'm not suggesting you don't deserve to have it off, especially if there are less senior people, but what most people fail to recognize is that we all have places to be (hopefully at least) so nobody's time off is really any more valuable than the next guys...it all boils down to seniority and less senior peoples' ability to do the task(s) that you do.  IF they can, then I'd ask your boss why they chose you over the next guy

Didn't stop me from asking for Christmas Eve off-originally I was told they needed everyone in the store but I checked my new schedule this afternoon and I have that day off. Seniority in my store still counts for something. It is my experience that if they tell you that you can't request a certain week off you do it anyway-the squeaky wheel gets the grease!

Well I Run approx 60-65 cases an hour. When i first started I ran about 30 and I was slower than another new hire so 2 new=me same for the other guy. They aren't losing anything more than they had before and we both were off on same night and one night no truck. Like I said the trucks are getting smaller.
