What's the policy on self defense?

Real question. We're dealing with more and more aggressive and *******-ish customers as time goes by, and I've been packing pepper spray and a tazer. I'm a U Scan attendent and a LOT of folks want to vent their frustrations in life on me. So. If I have to defend myself, am I covered?

Try to speak calmly to people that are venting.  Do not say anything to agitate them or escalate the conversation.  You never know what kind of crazy person you are speaking to.

I doubt that you are covered.  Are there security officers at your store?

If it is life or death situation, do whatever you need to do to protect your life.  You will probably be fired for using pepper spray or a tazer to defend yourself.  Be absolutely certain the situation calls for those extreme measures.

The policy is what you want it to be.

Management created the hostile environment with its procedures and customer unfriendly rules, not you.

It's your body.  No hospital in the world can get it back to its original shape after some violence.

Whether there's a concealed permit policy or not I'd carry ole .22 on my calf muscle under my Kroger pants.

Correction, .22 won't fit.  Carry a knife that you know how to use or a midget firearm.

If you feel threatened, leave the area and get a manager.
1. It will get you out of the threat zone
2. Managers are paid and trained to deal with extreme customers

Use a weapon - you go to jail.

I had a dicey situation happen with a customer sometime back. I told this to one of my regular customers-he said to me that he "would punch his lights out" if someone ever threatened me! Never discount if one of your "regulars" is nearby-they watch out for you.
