Unless you're:

A. seeking a salaried management career,

B. riding out your hourly supervisor job for the next 2-5 years before retirement/because it pays so good,

C. hourly but also only have 2-5 years left before retirement, or

D. you're a kid still with your parents/or going to college, then

You seriously should be looking hard at other career paths. Some massive changes are sweeping over retail, and they're coming fast. Many of you reading this who've been with Kroger for awhile know what I'm talking about. Gone are the days of enjoying the perks and benefits of staying with Kroger (or any other retailer, don't think there's a magic place that's still safe) for decades on end.

It's time to take a sane, sober look at your skill set and determine which direction outside of retail is best for you.

I'm a college student and wanting to leave Kroger. They're screwing me over and I'm not ok with it. I've been with them for 4 years and I'm over it.

OP here. Good for you. There's nothing wrong with retail, and I don't judge anyone for doing it (I was in it for 15 years), but the real urgency I see is, folks especially aged mid 30s and ^ need to get stepping quick----while they still can appeal to other employers. Same for younger folks, they need to get them selves positioned for something else soon too. Time really is of the essence.

I'm also a college student that's been there 4 years and my number one goal for the year is to find a new job!

We have had SO many MANAGERS quit in the Local 1996 area. My store lost one a month ago-and we are fixing to lose another one due to termination. Even my manager told me it's not worth it as a salaried employee but he has too many years in to quit before retirement.

 Very good advice!
