Four unpleasant chimes, then a Loud obnoxious Rock song - Demonic music at Kroger
Permalink

Can someone please explain what is going on with the 4 loud chimes at the top of the hour, like a crazy Out-of-Control Grandfather Clock has been hacked, and it's now 4:00  forever and ever.  THEN, one of several different horrible loud rock or hard rock songs plays immediately afterward.

Like Welcome to the Jungle, Jump, Let's get it started or something like that.  Is this supposed to make us work harder?

"Welcome to the Jungle" by Guns & Roses is a song that is demonically influenced.  You can laugh and make fun of me all you want (it is a free country, so far) but unholy, evil spirits (demons from hell) have inspired the making of that song, and all the powers of Satan are behind it.   Why does Kroger have to play it for us at the top of the hour?

Besides employees who have to hear it several times a day, every customer is NOT a rocker who enjoys listening to the stuff.  Has the Kroger Corporate big shots ever stopped to think this can turn some people off, and encourage them to shop elsewhere?

Welcome to the Jungle is the Cincinnati Bengals theme song, and since Kroger is based out of Cincinnati....

That's the top of the hour chime, supposed to go out on the sales floor and "condition" your department during that song. Does anyone actually do this? No.

Omg....I loathe the 4 chimes.  And its manadatory that we go out and condition and interact with customers...and have fun with it.  Right.  Ugj

If you don't like the music that's played then just tune it out.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kroger played demonic music. But how do you know welcome to the jungle is demonically influenced

This must be mandatory only in certain divisions or stores????   (I guess some managers care, and others don't.)  At our store, no one seems to know the chimes are meant to have any significance whatsoever. Not a word has been said about it.

For the stores where this is being discussed / publicized / mandated,  what division are you in???

I'm in Dallas and only one of the managers even bothers to announce that everyone is to condition their areas every time it chimes.  I'm also tired of the music...... they are trying to drive us insane I guess

 Hi Scotty,

so exactly how do I "tune it out"?    I am one of those weird people who are strongly aware of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual stimuli in my surroundings, especially smells, sounds and music of all types. I can't wear earplugs, since I need to interact with customers.  "Tune it out" is a meaningless phrase to me as I can't just shut something out and pretend it isn't there.

Hello, lad. First of all, I wouldn't say anything like what that Todd character tried to do. Also, all I can tell you is to try. You might find out you're not listening to a song or whatever without realizing it. And you say weird,  but I say unique. Everyone has their own quirks. smile

I don't know what division I'm in, but our store has the chimes and music and conditioning at the beginning of every hour. I'm in Indiana.

Actually sometimes you can, if you put your focus on to something else. And you still didn't explain why the song welcome to the jungle is demonic. what is your source for believing this?

Welcome to the jungle is an amazing song. I think its a song about drinking or drug use being as part of it says "Once your high you never want to come down"

 It's literally a song about f u c k i n g / rough sex.

And you're a very sexy girl, very hard to please
You can taste the bright lights but you won't get there for free
In the jungle welcome to the jungle
Feel my, my, my serpentine
Ooh, I want to hear you scream

Actually what's even more demonic is that they play the SAME few tunes (John Fogerty, Van Halen, Survivor, C+C Music Factory, Technotronic, etc., etc.) OVER and OVER again every single day at the top of the hour...As if those were the only uplifting and/or motivational tunes out there in the history of music...

Of course, in the old days, department stores might just play some instrumental elevator music...At least, things were much more relaxing and less chaotic! I guess the chaos of the playlist is in sync with the chaos of the stores nowadays, sadly...

I never knew what the lyrics to the song was besides the chorus. Funny it's about sex, Kroger plays this song loud as hell, when's it comes on. Guess they value getting off.

get your priorities straight.  If I have to hear Bungle in the Jungle, Faith, I would walk 500 miles, and other awful songs anymore I would rather my eardrums blow

(OP here). I'm not sure I understand your point, but I guess you think I hate the top of the hour songs but like all the rest of them?  Wrong.    I am sure you are aware that liking/disliking/loving/hating music is entirely a SUBJECTIVE, individual thing.........no one will always agree with others around them on what is good or bad. What you hate, I might love, and vice versa.  As Americans, we are free to disagree.  That said, I also dislike probably 80% of the rest of the music played on the Kroger feed.  Probably for not the same reasons you do.   You like the "one good rock song", but to me it sounds like chaos and pandemonium. I am a Christian and the belligerent, in-your-face, chaotic sound of "Welcome to the Jungle" strongly 'rubs me the wrong way'.

Incidentally, although the song has been interpreted in many ways, the song is actually supposed to be about the wicked, unfair, deceptive, conniving, lying, ungodly world of Los Angeles, CA and surrounding area (the "Jungle").   Not to be confused with the Swamp (Washington DC).

But........... nowadays in music, as well as art, Bad is considered Good.  Good is considered Bad.  This is one of the symptoms of the approaching End of days and accompanying Divine judgment .

I will spell out exactly why I dislike most of the songs played at the 'Top of the hour', and which have been (apparently) specially picked by Kroger to "Spur the employees to greater highs of productivity" (my own interpretation of what they are trying to accomplish).

BTW.....  Although, if you think about it, Conditioning isn't actually adding anything to the sales floor, it is moving things around that are already there. Hence, no actual TRUE productive work is accomplished, just making things look "better" or "fuller" in a totally superficial sense.  Most customers don't really care if the wall is  faced or "flattened" and full looking, they just want to know if the store has what they want or need. They want to get it and leave the store.

The rock songs I hate are extremely Abrasive. They do not sound pleasant. They have an irritating Noise (RACKET) about them.  The melody is often almost non-existent, or hard to follow.   The "singers" are often heard  screaming, not really singing.

Grinding, grating, scraping, screeching electric guitar, combined with the type of lyrics that are, in most instances Negative:   Unhappy.  Angry, Doubting, Depressed and depressing. Threatening. Overbearing. Obscene. Hateful. Referring to or glorifying sin in its many guises: Drug use, illicit sex,  excessive alcohol consumption, thoughts of suicide.   These are all symptoms of the influence of the Dark side.

Although many people mock the idea of Rock being associated with Satan, (and be glad you still have the freedom in this country to think whatever you want), there is a lot of evidence that those who perform that type of music, because of the lifestyle choices that are often (if not usually) associated with Rock,  have a shorter life span than the average American.  You might mock the idea of the "27 Club" but there is still food for thought there.

Here's an interesting web article about curses in the world of rock.     http://www.vh1.com/news/43415/freakiest-rock-curses/

I get what you are saying, OP...And there is a lot of POSITIVE music out there that NEVER gets heard...You also mention negative lyrics...Well, it seems that the much of the popular music of today has become increasingly negative over the last few decades and there are scientific studies that prove this...Read this, for example...

https://bigishdata.com/2017/01/14/popular-music-lyrics-have-become-more-negative-over-the-decades/

https://www.msn.com/en-us/music/news/music-lyrics-are-getting-angrier-sadder-over-time-study-finds/ar-BBRvAFA?ocid=mailsignout

There are REASONS why the music is getting sadder, more depressing, etc.

Of course, if you want to talk immorality, if we were to consider ALL the immoral things companies do nowadays, NO ONE would work ANYWHERE! I'm sure if we knew EVERYTHING the companies we work for do, we wouldn't agree with half of it! It's a very fine line we have to walk...There are a lot of immoral, unfair, and downright evil things companies do that no one ever talks about...And it's struggling, making-ends-meet, honest decent middle-class people who are just trying to get by in life who are hurting the most because of it...

And the sad thing is...No one cares! Least of all the companies themselves and their leaders, where the almighty dollar is more important than anything else...And then (and I hate to say it), look at how the country is being run (or run over, as it were...)...People complain once in a while, but no one really gets outraged over the things that TRULY matter...and they feel helpless and apathetic to do anything about the problems once they DO get outraged about them...Like I said, no one cares...Question is...DO WE???
