Today I was listening to the song "better" by megan trainor and I couldn't help thinking that the song resonated so much with my job at kroger. As it stands right now I work at the deli department at my job and it's no secret that we really don't make that much compared to what they make at the front end. All too often people who order stuff tell me stories about what they do (one time a car washer told me he makes a solid 13/hr just to do wash cars all day) and for me it's stories like that, that make me think
"Do you know how much we do at the deli compared to other departments? And how fickle our paycheck is? I deserve better than this...?"
Have you ever reached that stage working at kroger In the mindset of how much you do does no equate to how much you get paid?
Bruh if you let the deli beat you down that much you need to re-evaluate yourself. The only ones who make decent money are the overnight grocers and the managers that are rule over you (and the head manager) other than that your gonna be making 8-11 bucks at kroger. You deserve better, yet your still in the same place pal if car washing makes more than slicing ham and frying chicken GUESS WHAT...
Minimum wage increases dramatically outpace the pay scale. It's shameful to be stuck at or near minimum wage for years.
The worst part is that the scheduling is both semi-random and set it in stone, making it a real fight to go to school.
Actually, no that's not the worst part. The worst part is that being a good worker makes it almost impossible to go to school. If you made the mistake of being a good worker, management will **** up your schedule in hopes you fail or drop your classes, and maybe stick around a bit longer. Losing a good worker puts them in too much of a bind. Since you intend going to graduate and quit anyways, it doesn't matter at that point if you quit due to their dickery instead or get get fired for attendance issues. It's worth the risk if they can con another semester out of you. ****.
It's amazing that stores don't burn down every week.

OMG this makes so much sense!!!
I was one of the best they had and they never gave me any hours. I think it was because I wouldnt open up my schedule to total availability so they could schedule me the 2-10pm shift, and I was unavailable on Sunday because that is my hubby's only day off from his two jobs. That is why I quit this ****hole of a company and started working for Kompass, the reset company where I can finally work the hours I want.
