So I got a tooth ache and the slight pain is annoying. I wanted to call in last night 10pm to 6am manager says weve had alot of call in cause of the superbowl are you sure you want to call in? I dont even watch football... I said yeah im sure then he says well it will be unexcused are you still sure I said yeah and hung up. Been at this **** hole for only a year. So what does unexcused actually mean ? no call no show? or just since no doctors note its just a mark against me? Looking for a new job cause this place and this company ****ing suck

It's an empty threat, as any call offs work against you. He was just trying to intimidate you into coming in. I had a store manager who posted a note by the time clock that read 'You must be evaluated by mangement before being allowed to call off sick'. Yeah, right.

And yes, be looking for a new job----hopefully out of retail. That whole industry sucks gorilla balls no

Just get a note from your dentist proving that you indeed had a toothache and needed it fixed. Any disciplinary action or write up will be null snd void then. But be sure to get that note if you can.

Tooth Ache ? seriously just take two ibuprofen for the pain and go see a dentist when you get off work in the morning

Not like you can see anyone from 10pm to 6 am anyway

some people are so lazy

 It requires surgery.

That you're not going to get in the middle of the night. You can take pain meds at work, get paid and stay out of trouble or you can take pain meds at home and do the opposite.

It's the same thing. No sympathy from me, either.

Thread title says it all.

Sorry, but what they say. Pain meds, work your shift, then see the doc.

Yeah i was thinking the same thing. Calling off for a toothache? It's going to hurt whether you're at work or not, might as well be an adult and go to work...

You've obviously never had a real bad toothache.  I had an abcessed tooth one time and it was unbearable.  It kept me awake for two days straight.  This was over the weekend and my dentist doesn't have office hours on Saturdays and Sundays.  Anyway, my right cheek puffed up like a balloon from all the pus caused by the infection.  I talked to my supervisor and she said she had an abcessed tooth once and she thought the pain was 10 times worst than when she was in labor.  Probably the only worse would be to have third degree burns all over your body.  So if it's a severe toothache, then no you can't work.  You can't do anything except think about the pain.

I would take some pain meds and go to work, my body hurts me every day but I still get up and go to work. But I am me and you are you, were all different and we dont know just how bad the pain is for the OP, toothaches can suck, BAD.

Buuuut ... OTOH, why should anyone work hurt or sick for a company that wouldnt give a **** if you keeled over.

To answer your question, no, it isnt "unexcused" as long as you call in 2 hours before your shift.

So it seems youve never had one. Shouldnt comment on things youve never experience. Its not just some headache. The pain can be so bad no weak over the counter aspirin in the world will give you relief not does anbesol. Good luck trying to concentrate and deal with rude customers feeling that pain.
