Produce Employees: Which produce type or area is the one you hate dealing with the most?

I hate messing with the grapes refrigerated cooler/case.  Customers are SO sloppy, inconsiderate, uncaring, thoughtless.  No matter how much I try to keep the grapes case neat, clean, and organized, after a busy day (or even an hour) it is TRASHED!  They stand there and eat the grapes, take some out of the bags and leave them lying randomly in the case, or dropped on the floor. It is annoying!!   My second most disliked area is the apples and oranges table, because they are constantly losing freshness......bruises, bumps, rotten places appear quickly when my back is turned!   Constantly culling and straightening gets tiresome after a while!  So, Kroger produce people, what types of produce do you like to deal with the LEAST?

Definitely feel you on the grape case!! I especially hate cherry season. People are so gross and leave the pits EVERYWHERE!

I also dislike peaches and corn.

They are a pain to cull, but I love the way the apple table looks when it's full, lol.

I worked produce only once, but i have to say the corn. Especially during the summer. Customers are not supposed to shuck their corn in the store but we can NOT tell a customer not to. We also may NOT leave a few trash bins by the corn EVEN IF customers somehow manage to put the corn husks in the waste bucket because it encourages the customers to continue to shuck corn...however...we may NOT under ANY circumstances tell them not to shuck their corn. Therefore every 2-3 minutes or so, 5 if we are lucky, there needs to be a sweep by the corn area.

And then theres 20 single ones that they leave cause god forbid they cant eat an extra banana a day.

YESSS about the bananas!!

My favorite part is when they start looking at the boxes under the table, like, "oh, are the ones in THAT box any greener?? None of these 20 cases will do, do you have any better bananas in the back?" WOW REALLY? They are ALL. THE. SAME.

That's odd, because they place a trash can by the corn at my store for the purpose of shucking.

Our manager told us he doesn't want it there. I told him also it was for safety reasons, but i guess appearences are more important? Maybe each store is different.

Cherries are worse. Unsupervised kids, parents, and other adults eating cherries then tossing pits on the floor or worse right back in with the cherries or next to the bags. And if you show any signs of upset when picking up after these lazy f u c k tards, they become unglued and demand to speak with a manager

They would also leave cherry pits all over the store. I'd find pits in with the cereal, by the magazines in the checkstands, by the cheeses and eggs. Everywhere.

 That's gross. That's why I don't buy Kroger produce.

Oh really? So exactly WHERE do you buy your produce?  (A lot of people are sloppy, lazy, inconsiderate, thoughtless, trashy anywhere and everywhere-- no matter what grocery store they patronize........I see the same thing at Walmart, Meijer, etc.  Or did you mean you don't buy produce, period?

Ha ha. Sometimes I see a person stand there for a while, just staring at all the bananas.   I would LOVE to walk over and say in a condescending, but helpful, yet somewhat facetious voice:  "Hi there.  Those yellow things are called "BANANAS"! .... You pronounce it as "BUH - NA-'  NUHS",  with the stress on the second syllable.  Have you ever tasted them before??  They taste GOOD!!  "

They are looking for a decent bunch because they all look like crap. The bananas at my store are not like bananas I've ever seen before. They are green and brown and rotten at the same time.

Another one is when we sold fresh dates and those sticky date pits would be left all over, too!

And my no.1 question I never get tired of...IS THE ROMAINE SAFE TO EAT AGAIN??? no

I'll tell you this...Pulling all those salads during the recall was a job and a half! And it seems like there are always recalls! The last one was the third one in a year and a half!evileye

Watermelons in the summer can be a major ordeal, too, especially when there's a lot of them...Finding creative places to store those bins can be challenging, as well...

Also, rotting pumpkins in the fall...

The berry case in the off season after being distributed you know, say ten cases of terrible watery Central American blackberries. Grape case you really have to clean and reset every day or you are just being gross af. Oh yeah the worst is super cheap grapes from Chile that are on promo tables but come in giant styrofoam boxes. Ain't nobody got time for that.
