Every major company has something like this. It's all for show. You want something changed or stopped, you need to threaten legal action---and then you'd better be a minority, a female, or of some protected pervert status. REAL SH!T. All those 'Whistle Blower Hotlines' are for is good P.R. for the company, they couldn't give a single f u c k LESS about the employees.
Yes, I have contacted the Ethics Hotline before. It took about a month for them to respond to my message. When they did they came to the store spoke every person involved in my message, asked questions, then spoke with management about what can be done about the situation. The situation changed a little but not much. The people don't threaten me anymore, but they still leave me with a majority of the work. So it depends on the situation and what they can actually control, on what will be done.

So they did the bare minimum to cover themselves legally......
I called them because of a severe customer harassment issue. The customer was stopped dead in their tracks and the lie exposed. Management realized oh fu.c.k we did it all wrong. We could be sued and I almost did. Didn't change any thing but with corporate on their backs for employee safety they added a + one body to the front end in the evenings to help reduce customers being pissy for waiting 30 seconds in line after 7 pm. This happened because society is addicted to convenience and Kroger couldn't grantee it after 7 pm. I learned through this incident Kroger does not give a sh.it. about the humanity of their employees and you are not viewed as a value employee but a number and your safety isn't valued. Customers treated us like robots and slaves.

Only used it once. Not for something that was happening to me, but for someone that I worked with at the time. Three days after I made the report over the phone, a district HR rep came to my store and resolved the issue.
