I have been with Kroger 6 months. Is it just my store or does mgnt not care who is late and no call no show. ?
It depends on the store, and the general attitude of the store manager(s).
In general, if the management likes you, you can show up late nearly every day and they won't care.
Most no call/no shows will be considered as a "quit" if it happens more than two or 3 days in a row. However, I have seen a number of instances when the person eventually showed up later on, and everything turned out "OK", sometimes because there was (Supposedly) just a case of mis-communication (Kroger is very good at that), such as the person DID call in, but no one passed along the info to the proper dept head.
Depends upon your manager. My store could care less. They know about it but won't do squat about it. Just like lot's of other garbage that they won't crack down on. I think an unfavorable (badly written) review changed their work attitude as it seemed to straighten them out. Half of me feels bad they found it the other half is pleased people are correcting their bad work behaviors and straightening out because they didn't like the bad publicity. Keep in mind about your personal image and how it reflects the work place and how your actions intertwine with others. I immediately deleted it and the account associated with it just to be careful they didn't write me up for slander i.e. telling the truth that no one wants to hear. Union wasn't working, management didn't care, store hr didn't care, my corporate connections didn't care.... Cry wolf too much and people just stop caring.
They're aware of your punch times. My store won't do squat about it. My front end staff just don't get it and will create what ever shift they want and management doesn't punish. Being a valued peon upper management does not do any thing about it. They'll start when they want, leave in the middle of the shift, finish work later and take lunches when they want and take breaks as long as they want. Management can write them up for failure attend scheduled shifts. They won't. Management is aware of the issue but they won't crack down on it. I've never worked with a company where so long as you punch in your job security is secured.
It's because Kroger doesn't want to fire anybody since Kroger has a hard time hiring people due to the low pay and diminishing benefits. You can pretty much go anywhere and make more money starting out (and get faster raises), including McDonalds.
Depends upon the management. My current location is pretty laid back. So long as you show up (eventually) and do your job duties no one seems to care. So long as it doesn't interfere with the operation of business or customers complain. I wish my store would crack down on people showing up when they want, leaving when they want and making up their own shifts instead of sticking to schedule. Apparently they'll punish you if you arrive late but they won't punish you for leaving early or making up your own shifts.
