Inventory is coming up, and this will be my first, any tips for getting ready for it? Frozen Department.
I'd say it's pretty similar to other depts. Maybe easier because you probably don't have as many people to work with. You might start really paying attention to what you're ordering (cut things you really don't need unless the whole case will go to the shelf). If it's like inventory in my division, they bring in a crew that counts everything out on the sales floor and the store is responsible for counting everything in the back, so if you can get your backstock levels down lower, it will be easier. I mentioned having fewer people in your dept because it is easier to get everyone on board. If you can run and make sure your backstock is well-organized, it will go smoother. Keep like things together (if you have multiple boxes that aren't full and have the same product, try combining them so they're all together (so that you don't have to go back in on the gun and add to a balance, you will have it all in the same box.
I don't work frozen, but this is true for all departments: the less you have to count, the easier it will be. If the entire box won't fit on the shelf, don't order it.
You'll also want conditioning perfect. Things all in the proper spot, not overstocked. The easier it is for the inventory workers to count the more accurate it'll be. If stuff is a mess already it might take many days to get it all ship shape.
