Keep charging the ridiculous $3.00 a slice please. Piles of free slices of pizza in the breakroom daily. Deli associates handing out free pizza to customers & employees alike throughout the day, as early as 12:00PM when the lunch crowd fails to pay up (as they do daily at that price). Cool with me because, well, free food duh. The pizza kinda isn't the best, but I'm not gonna complain & will happily chow down on it since they can't seem to sell it and get stuck with a HUGE excess every day.
Enjoy it while you can because corporate can and will get a burr up their butt and discontinue it...and there is nothing we can do about it.
We use to do the same thing with the pizzas. It was all good for a while then BAM!! gone.
I havent seen that many people buying the pizza at my store. Kinda sad, cause I figure its something a lot of people would like, but there's too many other places to pick up pizza I guess. The chicken seems way more what the shoppers want, at least here where I work. I wouldnt be surprised if its not around long.
We used to have a Donato's pizza in our store with made to order pizzas. It was manned by Kroger employees who were hired for the pizza shop. But over time people started getting fired/quitting and Kroger wouldn't replace them. And if a customer came up for pizza deli employees weren't allowed to make them because they hadn't been specially trained and certified.. to make pizzas. Only two people from the deli were trained in the Donato's and eventually they left to other stores. They eventually gave up on made to order pizzas and the restaurant stayed empty for years. I'm not surprised the kroger deli pizza seems to be doing badly too.
Kroger just spent $1.8 million dollars on my store's remodel about eight months back & a chunk of that went into redesigning the deli so that a variety of pizza could be served from 11-7 daily. Would Kroger REALLY throw all that money away & scrap the pizza? Just lower the darn price to like $1.75 a slice & it would probably sell a heck of a lot better.
