What is the frozen case per hour? We normally get a 300-350 unit frozen truck every night. We are expected to condition, do backstock and have truck worked. How does one achieve that? I only do about 40 cph.
You don't. We never have time to work backstock except the one night a week we don't get truck. It's usual Kroger BS, managers (especially upper management) expect ridiculous results without the proper help.
Not sure about Frozen. I run grocery and it should be similar.
A general rule from a few years ago for grocery is to run and condition 40 cases an hour.
The manager gives us 12 hours to condition the entire center store(grocery and nutrition and some vendor areas) The DDP expects us to run 55-60 cases an hour when running stock only(nothing else).
Our grocery trucks are anywhere from 1200-1500 on a single truck night and 2000-2800 on a double truck night.
Your speed will improve with organization and editing the order.
The less backstock there is, the less you spend running it. Scanning residual backstock(checking allocation & minimums) and editing the orders should decrease backstock.
When running backstock, try to keep slow sellers on the bottom of cart(so you don't need to spend time moving them around) and fast sellers on top of cart so you can get to them quicker. And same product grouped together.
Very few people know how to organize and stack backstock. I have seen people throw random products in one box(surprise or Christmas box) and have 4 different boxes with same exact items in them. Or, put the thing that sells a case a minute on the very bottom of cart under everything that sells a case a year.
Mark down really slow sellers if they have been on backstock for more than a month.
I don't think you are doing too bad. There is always room for improvement.
Store managers expect ridiculous but not impossible numbers because that is what the paper calls for. More possible if everything goes perfect during the shift. The department manager expects the same numbers because the store managers are riding his/her ass to make it happen. Plus, I don't think the older department managers(more than 10 years) realize how the size of the trucks have grown exponentially over the years. Everything takes time.
The bigger the trucks, the more time everything else takes.
If you are a union store and you are out of probation, you can't be fired for productivity unless you are really slow. If you get wrote up for productivity, file a grievance immediately.
If you get yelled at, calmly say, "I am only one person. I am doing my best. Show me how I can improve to do better."
