Because the people in corporate have to be on dope. We just had inventory in the deli/bakery and one of things we had to do was write P2 (period 2) with a red marker on every single box we counted and then circle it. It had to be red marker and you had to circle it. Whoever came up with that idea must be the same person who came up with the useless idea of counting the freezer every day. I'd always put a simple slash mark on the box to let me know I had counted it but apparently that's not good enough. We also have to replace all our perfectly good shelf strips because they're not the type they're using at the moment. We can no longer keep extra paper towels, plastic gloves, or garbage bags in our department. If they see more than one box of paper towels per workstation or more than one box of each glove size, they confiscate them. Trash bags are only handed out when you empty the trash.

It's for waste integration, and the co manager will be ordering supplies for the store now they are really trying to nickel and dime everything, talk about feeding the human spirit
Yes, the comanager orders supplies which means we've run out of things like gloves before.. how do you operate a deli/bakery without gloves?
Yeah, just think of this: What if there is an outbreak of some awful disease and, upon investigation, it is discovered that a local Kroger Deli department had no gloves, and it was the co-managers fault, and then the newspapers got ahold of this, and it went viral/nationwide about how stupid Kroger is!! THEN, suddenly this rule about limiting access to gloves, paper towels, etc would be a thing of the past!!!!
PS. (Notwithstanding, good old fashioned frequent hand-washing is actually more effective and safer than gloves, but that is besides the point).
