...you walk in the store and you see a sign that says, "Now hiring assistant store managers." The starting pay is between $42,000 and "$52,000 based on level of experience. Of course they don't mention the 12 to 16 hour days. I know of one who worked 24 hours straight but she's one of those real go-getters who devotes their entire life to Kroger.
Yeah, I've done salaried retail management for Walmart. It's not for everybody. Your first move is to stop thinking in terms of an hourly wage, because you'll leave on the spot if you do... I used to think of the benefits in terms of 'well, it's a good career boost'. Not really. Every where you take that experience is exactly the same---if not worse.
The best people for this role are control monsters with a pathological need to boss people around, and losers who can't cut it doing anything else.

I've been offered to get into the management program a few times, but I've always turned it down. Same with the Clicklist Supervisor Role. I ain't ever going Salary, **** that. I see how ASMs are treated, no thanks
