What are the ID requirements in your state for such items? Recently the cashier I was bagging for asked for ID for "regular" (non-drowsy) cough syrup. In our state we have a "meth law" that regulates the sale of such items and requires ID but for the non-drowsy stuff the cashier said it was a recent change to Kroger policy.

We were required to ask for ID (In WV) for anyone that bought two of more cough syrup, night time or non-drowsy.

ID is required for any cough syrup, Mucinex, etc. I live in Michigan and you have to be 18 to buy it.

There's actually a lot of medication that requires id. By federal law we have to ask.  Punishment is the same as selling alcohol to a minor.
