I'm sure that many of you have had this happen. You're done for the day, on lunch, etc. Someone comes up to you and asks where an item is at. This has happened to me as well, but the most recent time got me. I wear a plain shirt underneath my work shirt. When I clock out for the day I take the work shirt  off so others will get the hint. One guy didn't. I was shopping after my shift and sure enough, this dude stops me and asks where something is. I had to take a moment to regain my composure before sending him away to the aisle. I'm thinking while getting out of there how some people are real oblivious.

Oh, I can do you one better.

I've had someone stop me in ****ing TARGET and ask me to check in the back for something because they knew me from Kroger. I was in normal clothes and pushing around a shopping cart at the time.

I had to explain that companies don't typically like people who work for their competition poking around their back rooms.

One time I was headed out the door in a hurry because I was going to be late for class. I had my coat on and my hat off and I was rushing for the door and some old woman says "oh! a kroger hat!" She had seen the kroger hat in my hands and made her way over to ask me a question. I told her I was off the clock and in a hurry and continued out the door.

Another time it was Christmas Eve and I was standing in a huge checkout line to get lunch for break.  I was almost to the self checkout after about 7 minutes and the line behind me was stretching back into the nearest aisle. A woman comes over and yells at me that she can't find her brand of coffee. I'm not about to get out of line so I told her I'm on break. She got mad and demanded I help her. I think she eventually ended up storming off because I didn't get out of line.

We tell people in our store (even our managers do it) "Sorry I am off the clock" and move on!

Until you step foot outside of the store youre obligated to still help out paying customers. You know these customers help contribute to your tiny weekly check right? so stfu and do your damn job. You come off as very lazy... youre probably a bathroom fortnite bandit

I've read about all of the Fortnite hype on here and I honestly don't care about this silly game. And when I clock out it is my time. I shouldn't have to be "obligated" to steal time like that. Also I'm paid by the hour, not by the customer.  Good day, lad.

again youre WRONG look it up. as long as youre on the kroger property and youre employed there you are obligated to help. But thats the typical self entitled ass ociate. Thats why pay cuts should be handed out

If I'm still working while off the clock, and therefore not getting paid, I'm stealing time. Ask any of the employees.

Not when its helping a paying customer who contributes to your tiny paycheck. You still rep kroger so telling a customer to get lost is grounds for a CA. pay cut should be issued IMHO

If I'm still working while off the clock, and therefore not getting paid, I'm stealing time. How are you stealing time if youre working off the clock? Most associates steal time anyway. pretty sure you do as well.

I'll usually tell someone where they can find the item. But the moment they get rude or "holier than thou" we no longer carry said item, or are out. EVEN IF we have it in the back area. Be rude to me when I'm off the clock and we are "out" of your item.

I used to tell them 'oh, that's in aisle 6!' and keep moving ---you stop or slow, you've engaged to take them to where you can put it in their out stretched hand. The beauty is, of course it's not there, there may not even be such a place, and they get pissed, and you usually never hear from them again, but if you do you just say 'my bad! We used to have it there'

I did that once and the customer yelled at me. He said, if I was off what was I still doing there. no

I was shopping. I told him I eat too. confuse

I still get asked at a store I haven't worked in for years. I sometimes drop by to pick something up.

You'd think wearing regular clothes, a coat, a hat and pushing a cart would be a clue but NO.
