We got our new Aprons today and the store manager explained the new dress code to me and others.
I really like it. I think it makes employees seem more friendly and approachable. It makes us look like regular people. Having a strict uniform just makes us look stiff. Not to mention wearing more casual clothes is more comfortable.
I think the customers will really like it if they see us looking more like them, like average people.

They will allow you to wear a shirt with sleeves under it(with no visible logos other than Kroger logos) and will now let you wear blue jeans(as long as they dont have holes or anything in them) or you can still wear your Kroger shirt and dress pants. Hahah aint that the truth. They stopped the whole going to a training center thing too. But with all that money saved will they up the wage? Nope
Don't give them credit they don't deserve. Dress code change was about overhead and offsetting the cost of clothing a employee onto the employee rather than the company.
Don't be fooled. Kroger's is making it obvious it seems employees as a burden that needs to be automated.

The one size fits all thing sucks though because the apron is pretty long on me so I have to fold it at the bottom and tie it around me but its not that big a deal.
Well that sucks. They don't have the vests in you guy's divisions? We have vests in ours, in addition to the aprons. Loving my vest. It seems the girls, generally, like wearing the aprons and the vests are worn primarily by the guys.

Why did you capitalize the word, "aprons"? Aprons is not a proper noun, at least not in this case.

Perhaps because Aprons are very Important at Kroger. Or maybe because the writer is half-German. When writing the German language, all Nouns are capitalized. I think it's kinda cool, actually.

Aww CRAP. I guess I spoke too soon. Our store manager brought us all in and gave us that new customer service/friendliness lecture and with it, we got new aprons (the ones with the heart logo on them). We already had blue aprons before, but this time, no more blue vests, or blue smocks. Everyone has to wear the apron.
When I started, way back in the mists of time in 1991, the dress code here for males was a white dress shirt, black slacks, red necktie and red apron. So, it could be worse. :P

It was nearly the same when I started in 1989 except the neckties were black and the aprons for the men and cobbler vests for the women were color coded according to what department you worked in.
Interestingly, when I started at Kroger, over two years ago, the uniform was a white shirt and black slacks, but thank god, no ties and no aprons (unless you're in the meat department or something).
