such a way to lose money, haven't heard of them making it right in some time. The way I figure it, if a customer is that upset that they don't come back, it's their loss.  There are a lot of things we can't control...trucks being on time, hours to get things stocked, etc.  What we can control are OOS, if a dept head is so bad at ordering that they can't keep sufficient product in the store for sale items, maybe they need their title taken away.  Giving product away for someone's incompetence isn't the best practice.

We can't control OOS's all the time, when things like warehouse scratches are running rampant. And regarding dept heads being incompetent..how about this one? I was told by a co-manager not to order too many pies for the memorial day 4-day sale, because, and I quote "Pies aren't a thing people think about for memorial day, they think of things like burgers and hot dogs"... WTF! Good thing i didn't trust his BS, because we were 2nd in my district on pies. I beat a couple marketplace stores, and if i would have listened to this moron, I would have ran out of them by Sunday afternoon.

Are you talking about those 8-inch pies?  We sold a ton of those despite the fact they're really not very good.  Don't the people that bake them know how to get the crust done all the way?  It's always pale white and pasty tasting.  The fillings aren't all that great either.  Now the 9-inch pies that we bake are a different story.  My favorite is the apple streusel.

lol.  200+ trays of bread ordered for my store.  160 left over....

We can't control warehouse scratches or mispicks.

I do it all the time. "Sir, those items were 2/$3 not $1.99" Make-It-Right. "Sir, this can has a huge ass dent in it" Make-It-Right. "Sir, I didn't read the fine print in the weekly ad about the digital deals saying I had to download a coupon thingie on my phone thingamabob" Make-It-Right. "Sir, I don't know how to use the Uscan, and I can't be bothered to wait in a regular checklane so can you do everything for me." Make-It-Right.

Okay that last one has nothing to do with making it right, but you get the idea.

If it's close, whatever.  At a certain point, you just want the customer to go away.

If it's way off or the customer is being a jerk, I'm going to send someone to check or call for a manager.
