Has anyone else had any issues with their paychecks?

I'm not sure if this is the best place to ask, but here goes...I'm curious if anyone else is having trouble like this, too...Our Kroger recently switched from paper paychecks to sending them via mail or into direct deposit...I know I probably waited a little too long to change things, but I'm very old-school when it comes to this (When I started working in grocery back in the day, we had punch cards instead of key pads!)...I have not had a chance to visit my bank (which I need to for another issue) due to some unforeseen circumstances which regretfully, I had no control over...I plan on it this week, though, and also get my direct deposit set up properly at the same time...In the meantime, they've been sending the checks to the homes at least until the end of the year...Well, I've been missing the last two weeks' worth of checks...At first, I thought it was down to our unreliable mail service...They didn't deliver ANY mail last Friday and I thought the check might come on Saturday, as it has in the past...Nothing on Saturday! And then, the Memorial Day holiday, which there was no mail delivery anyway...They are a piece of work to deal with anyway on any issue! Our HR person has been off for a week and I want to talk to her about this ASAP...I thought my next check would come yesterday, but I waited the whole day and not one Friday mail delivery...Foolish me, I thought maybe something would come today perhaps and I've been watching the mailbox like a hawk for the past two days to make sure no one had stolen the mail...The mailman just came today and delivered only one piece of mail and it was NOT a check! I do know that some of our mail has been delivered mistakenly to my neighbors in the past, but the neighbors haven't seen anything, either...yet! I was looking at my stubs for the last two weeks on Express HR, but who do I have to call about this issue??? I can get the direct deposit set up, but what about the two missing checks for the past two weeks? WTF is going on???

I must say this...NO ONE seemed to have ANY trouble when the checks came to the stores...They were prompt and ON TIME virtually ALL of the time for years, at least in my case!

Anyone else ever have a similar issue and what did they do to resolve it?

Well, I guess just keep asking until someone answers.   BTW, as you are probably aware, we are sick of wading through all the stupid troll posts every day.  That is causing some potential posters to not even bother putting in their two cents...........expecting a troll to derail, sooner or later,  an otherwise relatively mature discussion.    But........

I suspect that no one has been brave enough to answer your post because it leaves a lot of possibilities as to what MIGHT have actually happened to your checks. We could all theorize as to why you didn't receive your checks in the mail, but no one really knows.  It would all be a bunch of guesses.   Yeah, unpleasant as it sounds, they Might have been stolen.  Are you absolutely 100% positive Kroger has your CURRENT, CORRECT mailing address??

Contact both your bank,  and your HR director at work on Monday as soon as possible.

Also, Kroger has been trying to get their employees to switch over to Direct Deposit for YEARS and within the last year or two they have been getting more and more vocal and insistent about getting everyone to do so.  I've always had DD since working here (5 years).

Good luck and let us know what happens.

Thanks for writing back, Kroger-Employee...Yes, they've had my correct address, because I have been getting them with no issues for a month or two to the house and before that, not a single check went missing in the many years I got them the old way...My address has been the same for years...I'm gonna have a talk with my mailman, too, just to be sure, but I was right there on Friday AND Saturday when he showed up, so I know no one took them from the mailbox...I can't be sure, though, if it was the same guy the previous Friday, though...Still, two weeks and nothing has me suspicious...

By the way, I'd love to see one of these trolls work like crazy and have NOTHING to show for it...I doubt THEY'D be very happy, either...

Oh, and although direct deposit seems the only way to go nowadays, it's not foolproof, just so you know...

https://www.westernjournal.com/fbi-issues-warning-workers-receive-direct-deposit-paychecks/

It used to be so much easier in the old days...no

Some more thoughts here...and direct deposit delays are not unusual, even though you don't hear about them as much...

https://www.bankrate.com/banking/navy-federal-credit-union-experiencing-delays-with-deposit-accounts/

Is it wrong for me just to want to look at a pay stub and actually SEE what I was paid and if I was shorted or not...We're entrusting a whole lot of our personal info and lives to the banks, who can get it wrong just as much as anyone else...

Being vigilant about things is about the only thing we can do nowadays and even sometimes, THAT is not a guarantee...But what else can we do??? hmmshrug.gif

Direct Deposit is just as bad as giftcards.
With giftcards they hope you lose them or toss them out with a balance still on them.
With direct deposit they hope you don't check your e-check and deposit and compare that to how many hours you worked, etc.

I still pick up my check from the courtesy booth.  They don't like it, but I do.
At least once a month I catch missing hours.  A meeting that never got put in, a day they called me in early..
It adds up.  I already work off the clock Too Much, I do not want to be doing it in uniform, in the store.
I like seeing my pay stub, having it all broken down easy to ready right there, every friday.

Why would there being any problems of the checks going to the store? Their not shipped the same way as they would be to your address you know that right? Man kroger associates are just derps. Those 2 checks youre missing are like only what 137 bucks total? youll be fine

If you have a smartphone then go to the Android or Apple store and download either the Chime app or the Varo app. Apply for either card. Its basically a prepaid debit card that charges no monthly or annual fee. It has a Checking and Routing number so that you can have your paycheck direct deposited to the card. And the sweet thing is, these cards allow you to receive your money up to 2 days early.

I got both cards and simply just use them for saving money. $40 to each card, and I let it all just build up over time. It's a sweet deal. People still collect a paper check? How old school are you?

Yeah,  I don't completely trust Direct Deposit either. BUT, since I do have it, as a routine I always go on the Kroger site (greatpeople.me, and now Feed.kroger.com, ) and pull up the latest Info page for my latest paycheck, showing all the same info that would be on the check stub if I got a physical check. I then print it off and save for my records. I DO like to scrutinize each week's amounts......how many hours, how much OT if any, what was taken out for SS, local, state and fed taxes, etc.

Sorry to burst your bubble, bud...Original OP here, but those checks are not only $137.00...YOU...WISH!!! You must not be getting much overtime, eh? I get it, but some of us have been around awhile...evileye Thankfully, I do have other funds for emergency purposes, but it still irks me...

By the way, they are not SENDING the checks to the store anymore...If you're still getting yours that way, be prepared to NOT be doing that much longer! Change is coming!!! And in OUR store, ONLY for another year until it's total direct deposit or a cash card! My guess is that not all the stores are on the same boat here with this, but YOU WILL BE!

And thirdly, I just had a talk with my HR person (which probably most of you have never done!) and it turns out that within the last two weeks, I am not the ONLY one who has had a check gone missing...Don't know for sure if it's just a post office issue or they've been late mailing things out, but it's definitely an issue for more than just me! Which in turn has been a headache for our co-manager, but what can you do???

Maybe when all the millennials realize just how much things ACTUALLY cost nowadays, they'll change their tune in a hurry, but I doubt it...no

It's a great idea, for sure, but I sadly held out as long as they were still handing out paper checks...I like seeing EXACTLY what I've earned and not have to go online every other minute to find that stuff out...How old-school am I? I still read an actual newspaper, own a flip phone and get my music and movies the old-fashioned way...That said, I could go into a myriad number of other ways I'm old-school, but do you REALLY wanna know???

Personally, I think that those who hand over every bit of their personal lives to the digital realm are JUST AS BAD as those who are techno-illiterate! We entrust too much of our information to Google or Facebook and banks like Wells Fargo...and well, you KNOW what happened there...Back in the day, we didn't have to worry about malware, data breaches or identity theft...Welcome to the new world, indeed!disbelief

OP again...

In any case, I look it up, too, Kroger-Employee...Just so you know, I had a talk with our HR girl and it turns out I am not the only one who has had this complaint in the last couple of weeks...Others have had issues, too, so it's NOT just me...My co-manager confirmed this and made a phone call on it...He also had me sign a couple forms to stop payment on the checks and issue two new ones...He was sorry I had to go through this, too...I also have my direct deposit set up now, but it may take a week or two to kick in...Hopefully, things will start to go right now, but it's a warning for everyone else to watch out for this stuff...The company can talk all it wants about employee theft, but if someone who works for them isn't getting paid or is getting underpaid, isn't that like company theft? And who would want to work for a company that doesn't pay it's employees in a timely manner? There are SOME of us who have bills and responsibilities and that money can go a long way...Still, hopefully, it's resolved now and things can get back to normal...At least, that's the goal...

Your story doesn't quite tell all.

First double check all the info in your file is correct. If they have your address then they should have mailed it out to you.  I've never had an issue.

Contact your hr, payroll and manager and as them what is going on.

Third if your check is by mail you can easily loose it though various methods. Mail theft. Mail fraud. Mail person delivering it to the wrong address. Someone stealing from your mail box. Mail gets lost in the postal system.

I suggest direct deposit. Ask them to set it up for you to be sure it's done right.

Your story doesn't quite make sense. I've never had a paycheck issue like yours.  Talk to management and ask why you haven't been paid. They might be nice and recut you a paycheck.

OP again...

And...No, the story DOES tell all...File info is correct...Never had a problem until TWO WEEKS ago, after 10+ years without an issue (and many years before that at another company)...Apparently, the mail must be late in arriving!

As I stated before, HR payroll and manager have already been notified! Our manager said that others have RECENTLY been having the same issue and that I am not the only one who has brought up this issue as of late, although TWO lost in a row, instead of ONE here or there IS unusual...

No mail theft...THAT is because I watched the mailboxes like a hawk the days when they were supposed to have delivered them BECAUSE I just so happened to have the days off those days! NO ONE stole it from the mailbox, because I watched the truck pull up! And I had a talk with our regular postal lady...She has not seen anything like what I described to her...The neighbors haven't seen anything either except for one neighbor, who had a piece of my junk mail, which I could care less about anyway...Now, whether something happened on the way TO our post office may be another thing...

Anyway, our HR girl has already set up the direct deposit for me...I was with her when she did it and I discussed all this, so hopefully all will come through without a hitch...

I don't need THREE weeks of this craziness! As I said before, the manager already put a stop payment on those two checks and I'll continue to watch if for some reason they DO arrive in the mail, but I'm not holding my breath...He told me he'd see about getting those two checks reissued, too...In any case, I'm glad I got the direct deposit underway...But, I'm still going to be extra cautious just the same...There are thieves EVERYWHERE and ALL of us have to watch out for them, whether online or on the street...But, hopefully, it's resolved now...Thanks for asking...
