Getting the most out of the salad bar
Permalink

Salad bar is $7 a pound right? I have a theory on how to get the most out of it without wasting all your money. If you're just getting some watermelon and grapes as your "salad" then just forget about it.

I think to get the most, 80% of it has to be protein. Chicken strips, chicken salad, tuna salad, bacon bits, boiled egg bits. Whatever protein you can get to make it at least 80%. The rest of the 20%, can be your lettuce, cheese, fruit, whatever.

And of course, since we're employees, we get the special $5 a pound price.

It's a shame cause I see so many customers buying from the salad bar, and they get so little meat. Some just get some grapes and crap, and are surprised at how much it costs. Well, yeah, for the price of that handful of grapes, you could have gotten a whole bag of grapes from produce.
