When people go on an excavation to find coins
Permalink

There's nothing more annoying than when people want to receive a whole bill back as change and so they go on a hunt to find loose change in their wallets or purses or pockets. It's one thing if they have the money available on hand, but most of the time they stand there holding things up while they search for coins even though they've already handed over enough money to cover their order. One time an old woman was digging around in her nasty gum wrapper and tissue filled purse to find a nickle for five minutes and she ignored all polite urging and suggestions to give up on her quest.

And f ucking CHECK WRITERS. All old as F UCK. Same thing, brazenly stand there holding up a half mile long line of carts packed with screaming kids, just because, by God, they've got the right to keep paying for their items the same way they always have.

Can't WAIT til the industry as a whole finally phazes out those old ass raggety f uckin check books.

Wait until the industry phases them out? The people who still use checkbooks will die before that happens. Let it go.

Never complain about taking cash, though. People who use cash are smart. Cards are insecure enough, but god help the people who rely on phone apps to purchase things. Plus, why would you let every purchase get sent out in the ether to be tracked by Big Brother?

I think I had a 30 year old female customer pay with a check once. It was quite bizarre. But on average, the customers that give me checks are in their 50s, 60s and above. And it's rare. I would say every 1 out of 600 customers pays with a check.

Why do we even take checks?  How and why are they still a thing?  It's weird, right?  I don't think we should take checks without a valid AARP membership card, and I don't think we should accept "temporary" paper ID's at all for any purpose.  At my store, there's a small single digit number of regular customers that still use checks.

If you aren't a civil war widow or that one guy that uses cute puppy checks registered to his janitorial service (way to be professional), you're either Tammy Trackmarks or Mickey McMethMouth.  That's it.

Coins piss me off.  There should be an age limit of 11 years old for paying for anything completely in coins, and even that might be a little excessive.  WE HAVE A GODDAMN COINSTAR, *** YOU.  Even stupid sensible Canada has laws that limit how much idiots are able to pay in coins.
