That's precisely what I did.   I left.

Kroger has too many problems that I cannot work within their problematic procedures, structures, and expectations without getting eventually ulcers.  I can solve many of those problems by proposing new procedures, etc. but the mere thought gets shot down and/or disciplined for insubordination (I don't care what you think response).

The best way to handle a situation like this is to leave and work for their competitor.  That's how capitalism is suppose to work.  If you stay, the market forces to push Kroger out of business are nullified.  By staying at Kroger you made bad management and bad union reps a cozy home.

It's a matter of self respect.  If you get bullied to do work that is not possible, you are the idiot for sticking around.

Wile E. Coyote, my friend, I appreciate the sentiment, from the bottom of my heart

However, its not quite that easy, some of us here have been trying to leave for years but arent getting hired elsewhere and well, we still need money to live, so what do you suggest in this case? Not everyone can afford to just quit our jobs and walk out when we have bills to pay and need to eat.

If I were to ask what entries you have in your latest log file for approaching companies in person as a resource person/problem solver for *unposted* jobs, what would I find?  What would be the latest entry?  Have you been looking?  Have you been researching suitable jobs for your personality (Myers-Briggs, etc.) and then afterwards targeting those companies (hiring manager) to increase their revenue?

You have to have the same persistence in chasing a Road Runner.

This is the best time in years to make a job change for a job that is comparable to Kroger.  Help wanted signs are out...and that's just for the known jobs.

So you're another one of those people that think job hunting is that easy? I got called for an interview recently and unfortunately wasnt available the day they wanted me to come in and then they never called back and scheduled another after saying they would do so after I told them I wasnt available that day, like seriously just because I had to work that one day I was straight up rejected, and I called back a few times too. Thats how job hunting is, companies turn you down for literally the most trivial reasons. Ive applied to countless jobs but only gotten 2 call backs and 1 interview in the almost 3 years working at Kroger when looking for something else. Ive applied for stuff I have experience in and its no good. Companies want ridiculous stuff or you gotta know people. Thats how it is.

Like Al Bundy, I hate fat middle-age women.  I apply to businesses that do not have fat women as a general rule as their customers -- like a gym, hardware store, sports administration.

Applying for a deli job at a grocery store chain would be dumb for someone like me because fat women are plentiful there because of an employee discount on ham.  I'd be miserable there.  I wish all fat middle age women were dead but that's the way it is.  It is what it is.

Which customer base do you enjoy?  Try that approach.

I like hot compassionate women, so I apply for retail-like jobs at hospitals to be around nurses.  Follow what I'm saying?

Think that way and you'll see job ideas open up.

For someone like me, I need to stay away from restaurants too.  Fat women complain and make life hell on workers there.  Again, ideally they should all be dead but that's the way it is.

The only jobs that open up are jobs that cater to a fat middle-age woman market.  Avoid those business ideas.

well thats your fault. so because you couldnt make it they should just put their needs aside and wait on you? Thats hilarious. next time call in or tell lol kroger youll be late. It's good they rejected you since you showed you had 0 commitment and responsibility. probably also that youre a kroger employee and they know how lazy kroger workers are

Your comments are unproductive.  You did not help them.

Kroger is a s-h-i-t-t-y place of employment.  Everyone knows that.

Sometimes out-right quitting makes you immediately employable somewhere else.  That gamble has paid off for me on more than one occasion.

Didnt work for me when I just quit my last place of employment before Kroger. I went through 5 years of unemployment before Kroger hired me so Im not just all that willing to up and quit Kroger and face 5 more years unemployed which very well could happen.

Im saying that yeah Kroger is a crap place to work and we all know it but its a job and they pay you to go in and work, and thats better than having zero income while looking for other jobs.

That seems like good advice.  Let us vote to strike and then go for it!  NEVER SET FOOT IN ONE OF THESE STORES AGAIN AND SPREAD THE WORD.

you're a moron.  If you get a call about a job, you call in sick that day.  I tell them all the time, if I get a call for an interview, I won't be here that day. **** them.  They need us far more than we need them.  You missed your opportunity...you deserve to work at kroger forever
