That's been the rule for a while now but your manager has access to your actual clock in/out time and get that on a report every morning. Depending on how anal they want to be can act on it Just be aware. :)

I've been abusing the 7 minute grace period for a loooong time. More than I deserve, actually. Thankfully, the managers are very generous in that regard.

I call it abuse if someone habitually punches in 7 minutes late, takes a 22 minute break, a 37 minute lunch , and takes another 22 minute break the last half hour of their shift. They then wait a minute and punch out for the day 7 minutes early.
I always clock out 7 minutes early. They stop paying us 7 minutes before our shift ends, so I don't stay those 7 minutes. It's just free labor at that point.

I always take my last break (when I get a last break) the last 15 minutes of my shift. That way when I leave seven minutes early, I'm only cutting my break time short and shortchanging Kroger on labor. When you think about it, I'm actually giving them more of my time by waiting until the last 15 minutes of my shift to take a break. The timeclock we use for breaks is in the breakroom. My department is on the opposite corner. By the time I walk to the breakroom, take a 15 minute break, and walk back, I'm actually gone from my department for 21 minutes. Yes, I did time it and no, I did not dawdle on my way to and from the breakroom.
In my department we're not allowed to take our breaks in our last hours. They're very nasty about it. Occasionally I've had to take my break in the last hour because I got pushed into it (like people before me taking their breaks, so I'm not able to go til my last hour) and I got told off for it big time. I told them I'm not missing a break which I'm owed.
