I have been with Kroger for 10 months. You either have to have a specific amount of hours in to qualify for FMLA or have worked for the company for 1 year. Unfortunately, I had a medically necessary surgery and requested fmla and of course it was denied because I didn't have enough hours in. Close, but did not meet requirements. I was going to be out for 10 weeks. So far I have been out for 5 weeks. I wasn't completely sure how this worked but I found another job that fits better with my home life and better pay with less stress. I went in and gave them my 2 week notice (typed up and handed in, also...i still had about 5 more weeks of "time off" so technically I was giving them my 2 weeks while still being "out"). 3 days later I receive a certified letter in the mail from Kroger. I was not home at the time it was delivered so now I have to wait until tomorrow. I'm trying to figure out why or what this could be about? Would they send a certified letter to terminate me before my two weeks because my leave was not approved? I understand their rules about that but it sucks because it was something that needed to happen.
