Management in at least a couple of stores is claiming that Frozen Grocery (Department 45) has been somehow granted ELMS hours to work Natural Foods (Department 17) Frozen items that are part of the deliveries to Frozen-45, for example, Halo-Top ice cream, Dept. 17, that comes on the pallet with Department 45's KR Deluxe ice cream. There are two or three folks on here who are in positions to know, so, informed input would be much appreciated.
All Natural Foods (Nutrition) sales are now apart of Grocery, Natural Foods is now a sub-grocery department. Since Natural Food items are being moved into grocery aisles, all the ELMS hours flow to Grocery. Unless, your Store had these hours reassigned, Natural Foods no longer should have hours (except bulk bins, which I believe is a set amount of hours flowing to Natural Foods in ELMS).
I know next to nothing about ELMS, but as a six-year freezer worker, I can tell you we've always stocked the natural/organic/vegetarian/hippie frozen stuff ourselves.
Depending on the sales volume of the Natural Foods department, grocery might have just done all the stocking already. Going forward, Natural Foods will not be a special area, but inline with all the other link items (green sections).
Right, like Dairy and Frozen, with its own lead/(sub-) department head, associates, department-code designation, and allocated ELMS hours . . . at least, for now, in the Dallas Division districts I'm familiar with. What are those resources for if not to take responsibility for Department 17 stuff? Natural Foods has its own milk and eggs that Dairy doesn't work; it isn't clear why Natural Foods frozen products aren't worked that way.
As far as, "If it comes on 'your' truck, you work it," well, Bakery, Deli, Meat, and Seafood frozen items also come on those deliveries.
"One team" is a fine concept, but when management is individually counting cases, it will not be issuing write-ups and reprimands to "teams".
That is something you would need to ask your Grocery coordinator to show you. Other than that, you have to decide if you believe what you are being told. I used to be able to see how the hours were allocated 6 years ago. Now, the ddp format doesn't show that.
I am not sure who allocates the hours: HR, local Coordinators, Store managers or Corporate leaders.
When I fill in the Grocery ddp, I can select yes or no for running nutrition cases. It doesn't matter what I choose, it doesn't add anything to the case count. I know we are running at least 300 cases of nutrition four nights a week. Yet, they don't appear on our case count on the ddp.
If your a department manager you can view ELMS and see the hours how hours are forecasted. If you do a little more digging you can see where the hours are being directed into the eScheduler. Where the hours are flowing is directed by the Divisions Labor Manager, with GO saying what hours are forecasted. Your Store Manager and District Team only have a small amount of input into the whole process, but can not really change anything.
My store still has a natural foods section, with a natural foods lead... is this unusual then?
Sort of.
All stores will eventually have nutrition blended into the center store aisles. And, will no longer be their separate aisles. I still see some stores that have their own Nutrition section near me.
We have a Nutrition clerk(not sure if he is a lead or just a clerk) on days. Dry Grocery orders most of the Nutrition for the center store aisles.
I am guessing he fills milk and eggs and helps Dairy and Frozen with their stock.
