This week we were suppose to have a shrimp Po-Boy special.  The special was if you bought a box of fish seasoning and some type of dressing from the meat department, you got a package of 4-count bolillo rolls for free.  Well, we baked several dozen packages of those rolls.  However, nobody in the meat department knew a thing about the special.  To make matters even worse, it wasn't in the ad and they didn't put up any signs.  So we ended up marking down a lot of rolls, and it would have been unnecessary if other people were on top of things.

You will notice deli/bakery is often left out of ad, we have had many many flash sales ect all other departments will be in the ad and not ours ever.  I was in vacation during that combo but I do know our store knew about it sounds like your meat dept didn't get the sales plan?

It didn't used to ne that way 10 to 15 years ago.  We used to always have a bread and a sweet good such as coffee cakes or cinnamon rolls on sale.  It would change every two weeks and it was always in the ad.  Bakery department also got their own section in the ad.  Now, if any bakery products are mentioned in the ad at all, they're usually buried at the bottom of the page and mixed in with regular grocery items.
