Front end.

Want to get rid of someone? Make 'em a cashier or bagger and they'll usually quit on their own in a couple of weeks if not sooner because of the customers or having to collect carts.

Yeah usually if someone can't hack it anywhere else they send them to front end... either that or it's the bakery. Oh this person is 70 years old? They'll be *Great* in bakery.

My store it's the front end. It's quite annoying for people like you and me who are actually good workers and can't do s-h-i-t about it. We get a half @$$ed team that can't do the basics of a simple job designed for individuals with disabilities that require repetitious positions. Then b-i-t-ch about how it's too hard. Then we have 50+ year olds how hate them selves and are the total b-i-t-ch of the front end and make everyone's lives miserable.

In the Michigan division in our store, the reject department has always been Drug gm. My niece works in that department. In our store, instead of giving them the crap workers, (although ive seen it happen a couple times lol) our front end ALWAYS takes their people and uses them for bagging/relief cashier help/clicklist help, rarely calling on other departments,  but when it comes time that those ladies really need a helping hand to catch up over there, EVERYONE in management turns a blind eye and pulls their usual sh*t saying that theres absolutely no one they can use, because everyone is short staffed and cant afford to cough up a single body, but wont let them use over time either, and in the same breath cant wait to rip them a new a** later on for not getting the work done and not keeping up with department conditions. Ive worked for the company a very long time and worked at several different stores. Every store sadly has that one department that they throw to the wolves. In the end, its up to management to run their store properly and ensure that every department is set up for success, but in this division, the only ones they have running stores nowadays are the major suck ups or theyre part of the good ol boys club, so the DMs & district/division people get their buddies into the store manager positions and these people run the stores right into the ground. Way to go. Welcome to Mich division. Lol.

My store is also the reject employee store they send all the trouble employees too. Only about 5% of employees are here of their own free will. The rest get transferred in as a last chance sort of deal. A lot of them end up not lasting more than a year or two. I regret transferring to this store out of my own free will. If I had known that I would have not transferred. I am watching the job book for other openings at more reputable stores. I'm sick of this b.s.

front end. at some point though the front end still has to be functional despite getting the leftovers. that's the worst part. you need to make your numbers and you need people to be productive and reasonably friendly and on time to do it and you can't do it because management moved all the rejects up front from grocery, dairy, produce, meat, deli, bakery, every where and they steal your reliable people without asking you or them!

The deli is used as a punishment department for otherwise competent employees.

If the deli is too much, they get courtesy clerked.

If they mess that up too bad (it takes a lot), they might get put in maintenance.

"Courtesy clerk" also known as everything simple.  That is usually new hires who are still having their fb accounts hacked, homes searched, personal lives evaluated, etc., or if they are obviously unfit for any company that is able to hire lots of good workers.  If they show promise they get trained on the job by anyone in a given dept that does not want to get stuck with all the work.
