Why doesn't the deli temporarily switch to pre-sliced orders?

The deli workers are continuing to be exposed to customers who want specific meat and cheese orders. There is no protection for any of the deli employees, so its only a matter of time before they start getting the virus. But there is such a simple solution. All Kroger has to do is switch to all pre-sliced deli items, and let the customers grab the bags off of the cold wall. I realize that a few pampered customers might be upset that they can't request their items at a specific weight or thickness, but under the current circumstances, they just need to accept the items that are put on the shelf. Once the pandemic is over, they can go back to having the customers place their orders at the deli counter. But until then, we can't afford to have our workers being breathed on all day. How much do you want to bet that Kroger is going to wait until AFTER a bunch of deli workers get the corona virus to fix this situation, rather than just fix it now? This is ridiculous.

I'm not even in the deli but I've voiced the same suggestion/concern to several co-workers recently. It should have been done at the same time they closed the butcher & seafood service counters 2 weeks ago!

Sounds like they just dont want to piss off customers, but people's health is more important. If only Kroger actually understood that no

Kroger doesn't care if their employees die. Making money is more important right now. Prove us wrong Rodney McMullen. We're waiting.

We've taken the self serve donuts out because the barricade we placed all over the doors was broken open. And we taped the hell out of it solely to prevent people from getting in. They STILL managed to tear it open, so now guess what NOBODY gets to get just a single donut. Oh, well to bad deal it.

We should have removed the self serve donuts when this Covid19 first hit us.
