Walmart Store Shut Down...How Many Kroger Employees Have Virus?

So the Walmart store in Massachusetts which originally had 23 cases was only shut down because someone posted about it on social media. The health department got involved and made them shut down until all employees were tested and got test results back and store deep cleaned. They are now up to 61 cases with results still pending for 119 employees. Walmart paid for the testing. Employees who are negative will be able to return to work but must self monitor. I think this is because you can have the virus (very early) and not have enough viral load to show up on test. All employees and customers must wear masks.

It just makes me wonder how many Kroger employees have the virus. We know Kroger cares as much about us as Walmart does their employees. Walmart had what would be considered a hot spot and tried to keep it a secret. They would never have shut down and tested all their employees unless they were made to by the health department.

So if I die from the virus does Kroger pay my family a "hero" death benefit or does Rodney just send them a letter saying how proud he is that I gave my life for the company?

You have to take other things into consideration besides the fact they all worked at Walmart. The fact that they all worked at Walmart may be a coincidence. Frankly, I think they've blown this whole virus thing way out of proportion. The cost to the economy and to people's mental health has been more detrimental than what the virus has done. Sure some people have died but thousands of people die every day. Some people have gotten sick, but that's nothing new either. The fact is only a tiny fraction of one percent of the population has been affected by the virus. Yet the rest of us have to pay the price. I think it's funny how they built all these field hospitals and brought in those two ships and they all sit empty.  Since only a tiny fraction of the people who get the virus have any notable symptoms, why not develop a test to see who is more likely to have an adverse reaction to the virus instead of one that just detects whether you have it or not?

Two positive cases at my store. Then about six additional people went out for health reasons not corona related. Then several coworkers to scared stupid and took loa for as long as they could. There loa is running out and they're having to come back to work like it or not. Now if so much as a coworker coughs customers are scared stupid and start verbally harassing  employees.

I am finding that the customers are so use to a customer first environment. Now that they are not in a customer first environment they're getting quite edgy and let's face it @$$ holes towards one another.

Companies are starting to get in trouble for having clusters and not letting health officials know. Ralphs (Kroger company) said it is going to offer at home tests to all it's 20,000 employees. The problem with this is the at home tests haven't been proven to be accurate yet. A lot of countries ordered a bunch and then want to get refunds because they don't work. So Kroger probably bought a bunch of dud tests so they don't have to pay for actual real testing that works. Ralph employees should insist on testing that actually works.

For every person who has the virus you infect at least two others (unless your a super spreader). They each infect two others and so on and so on. Not a big deal for you if your one of the no symptom or mild symptoms ones. If your the not mild it is supposed to be tens times worse than the flu. Then you have the people who get extremely sick and have to be hospitalized. Even if your one of the mild cases, someone else you love or care about may not be. My sister works in a hospital and she said it is bad. Hospital doctors and nurses are scared of this virus and scared of infecting their families. If the people working in the thick of it and seeing what this illness does to people are scared, then I don't think it's being blown out of proportion. It's not just people with underlying conditions who are dying. People who are otherwise healthy and even children are dying.

Well, you know what they say about evolution and survival of the fittest.  Perhaps this is just nature's way of thinning out the herd.

Thinning out the herd would be okay if it only took out the Karen's, Trolls, and other *******s. Unfortunately, they will probably live to produce more just like them.

Maybe we are living in the end times (Book of Revelations)?  Some generation has to be "it" so maybe it's our generation?

Have any of you bothered to purchase guns and ammo, and food and beer for you personal 1-2 year supply for the long haul?

Doofus, it isn't that simple.  Everyone is going to catch the virus at some point until it goes through population. Quit trying to get me to quit corporate company peon.

What proof do you have to support that statement?  Saying that somebody else said it is not proof of the statement's validity either.  Anyway, the way I've heard it has to do with what's called herd immunity.  If two out of every three people are immune to the virus, the virus will eventually die out.  If one person can infect two people, the number of cases will grow.  If one person can only infect one other person, the number of cases will stay the same for a while but will eventually start to drop as people become immune.  There's two ways to stop the virus without a vaccine.  The first is nobody goes anywhere for two weeks, not even to the grocery store or a hospital or outside among other people.  It would only take one sick person to screw everything up.  The other way to stop the virus is to do nothing and let the virus make its way through the population.  The overwhelming majority of people, who have normal immune systems, wouldn't even have any symptoms.  Even with a million confirmed cases, that's still less than 1/3 of one percent of the population.  The other 99.6% percent are either immune or their symptoms are/were neglible.  Hospitals could treat the most critical cases.  Those that show symptoms, but aren't critical could just tough it out.

Yeah, well...The second wave has not happened yet...The more states that re-open their economies could see a rise in deaths...It's already happening in some places, which is why Mississippi's governor reversed course on reopening his state...You talk about field hospitals being empty and those two ships...Even if they're not filled now, I feel much happier knowing that they're there...Yeah, and we don't need all those ventilators...We don't need to stockpile masks and gloves and sanitizer...Why worry about a vaccine as this thing isn't so bad??? You could go on and on with that type of thinking, but GUARANTEED, there WILL be a need for ALL of that at some point, so I'm glad they are thinking about these things ahead of time...We were slow to stop the spread at the beginning...Let's not be that stupid the next time something like this happens or if this virus surges again at some point, which is exactly why we NEED to be prepared!!!

I swear, the short-term thinking of some people about this virus just flabbergasts me!confuse

What proof do you or anyone else have that there's going to be a "second wave"?  All you can say is it could happen.  You can't say it will happen.  Considering the extremely low percentage of people who actually suffer any ill effects from the virus, I'm willing to take my chances and vote that we open everything back up, do away social distancing, and return to normal
