Why can't managers just honor Union rules?

I mean it is really quite simple. If you have seniority the hours go to you first. If you are able to work in several departments to get hours and you have seniority, they are suppose to give those hours to you. It's not an agreement with a manager. It is an agreement with the Union. That is why seniority exists in the Union.

A full time employee gets 36-40 hours, not 20-32 hours. Stop giving the hours to the new employees. If you really cared about your employees, you would show that care by respecting the Union rules with your older employees.

no  the hours come from your home dept. schedules are written by dept heads and almost none of them have access to cross schedule between depts. If you are FT and not getting your 40 hours call the union.

I've seen stores with too many FT that will spread their hours out

No I'm not FT. I am no department, clerk. I work in all departments, except pharmacy and meat.

Major corporations are not your friend. They'll use and abuse the peon workers to no end. The union is only there to make sure we have rights and to be sure the peon worker isn't screwed over. Pros and cons to unions but I do like the job security.

Heh. Taking hours. One of Kroger's more creative policies when screwing its employees.
That's why I had to take a second job near the end. Literally couldn't get a living wage.
Fourteen hours a week at $7.25 an hour doesn't do squat.
