"OLYMPIA No mask, no service is about to become the law in Washington.

As coronavirus cases surge in many areas of the state, Gov. Jay Inslee on July 2, 2020 tapped the brakes on reopening and ordered businesses to not serve customers who fail to wear a face covering."

So why is kroger still servicing customers without face masks? This is literally breaking the law.

Because Kroger corporate says its "Ok." And if they saybits fine, then you WILL do as they say. EVEN IF the law says otherwise.

Bunch of cr@p I think. If the law says No mask, No service, then it's no Mask, No service! End of discussion. All the Karen's out there can abide by the law or shop elsewhere.
I'm NOT sorry to sound like this, but the law is the law and I am getting pretty d@mned sick of all the Karen's and coporate's stupid @ssed ideas that go against the law

Because Kroger is not going to lose one! single! sale! They don't care about their associates or their customers! They care only about the bottom line!

Are you willing to pay for your customers to wear masks?

So, a public company is allowed to tell a customer that they are allowed and not allowed to do, outside the established cultural norms? Last I remembered, governments make laws/rules on health and safety concerns for the general public. I'm not saying people shouldn't wear mask, but this requirement is out of the standard retailer play book. It would be like telling customers they need to wear church clothing to go to grocery shopping.

Only if church clothes reduced the risk of propagating the global pandemic?

Which, I might add, they don't appear to...

...Anyways, it's just blind amoral corporate greed.  It's only about the bottom dollar, which is to say quarterly profits.

You gotta get every sale.  And if you lose some employees?  They're merely expenses, not even assets.

For the same reason Kroger returned to normal hours while Wal-Mart is still only open 'til 8. They care more about money than anything else.

Meanwhile, other countries on the opposite side of the globe, esp. ones who are used to this sort of thing, are looking at us and either pitying us or laughing their asses off...

I heard an interesting phrase from a Canadian, too..They (Canada) feel like the posh apartment built over a meth lab..and the lab is burning!

Im sure Rodney is really in danger out there being a hero. Poor Rodney out there suffering with his millions

Meanwhile Ive got this old loser making fun of me for wearing a mask and social distancing from him because he refuses to put one on even though he always shows me he has one in his pocket which Im sure is doing him a lot of good. Kroger is stupid cause they wont actually enforce this. I guess if their employees die they dont have to pay as many people though, am I right? Rodney needs more millions after all.

I think the more important question is, why are all essential workers not federally required (and covered) to get regular testing? Seems like that would be a pretty basic step in preventing spread.

Well, the most accurate answers for that would probably be:

1) The United States (government) is NOT a dictatorship. (Yet).  You whine about why the government is not doing this, and not doing that, and not doing whatever, yada yada. BUT, the same whiners that seem to expect our government to boss us around and require all kinds of crap, don't realize that if that actually happened, it eventually descends down a slippery slope to DICTATORSHIP - Extreme Socialism, Communism, Vicious Tyrannies.   Don't be surprised if you keep demanding this kind of NON LIBERTY, that you eventually will actually get it!  NOT a good thing..........this country was founded on the theme of LIBERTY.  That comes with a price.  Our liberties have been eroded already, slowly and gradually, but so much so that if people living here 70 years ago should suddenly rise from the dead and walk around to see what is happening to our country, they would be mortified.

2) This action takes TREMENDOUS amounts of money, coordination and cooperation between government, private and public institutions.

PS. Testing does NOTHING to actually stop the spread of the coronavirus, or any other disease or virus for that matter.    It merely shows us what is already happening on the ground.  Why is this so hard to understand?

Well, here's the deal...The governor here in Michigan MANDATED an order that ANYONE (and that includes customers and employees) either outside among large groups and indoors with groups not of one's own family MUST wear a mask to be served...If a store does not follow this new rule, they could be subject to a $500 fine...

https://www.clickondetroit.com/news/local/2020/07/13/michigans-new-mask-rules-take-effect-today/

https://www.clickondetroit.com/news/local/2020/07/09/gov-whitmer-threatens-stricter-laws-if-michigan-residents-refuse-to-mask-up/

On our first day of this today, our store manager was handing out masks to anyone who needed one...One lady came in and I couldn't help but overhear her state quite clearly that "The Constitution Of The United States says I don't have to wear a mask and you can't make me!" When she found out they were being given away, she sheepishly said, "Well, I'll wear it...but I DON'T have to like it!" And I'm thinking, "NOBODY SAID YOU DID, LADY!!!" Fer crying out loud, we've had to wear one for months and other frontline workers like doctors, surgeons, nurses, etc. have had to wear one, so it only seems fair that if we HAVE to wear one, SO SHOULD EVERYONE ELSE!!! The entitlement and the unmitigated gall of some people really irks me!!!

Back in the day, a man by the name of John F. Kennedy tasked the country with these words of wisdom..."Ask NOT what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country"...If a politician today gave that same advice, I don't think people would be willing to make those sacrifices...We've gone through two world wars, have had to ration supplies, scrimp and save during the Depression, make do with what we had and support things like war bond drives...And you're telling me that you can't do one simple thing...Putting on one little mask for the good of others??? evileye

I'm seeing all these other nations (esp. in Asia, where wearing masks is more common) slowing down the spread and it almost makes me ashamed of my fellow Americans...It's as if OUR STUPIDITY is on display for the world to see! As author Charles Bukowski once said, "The problem with the world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts, while the stupid ones are full of confidence." And it's precisely that confidence that will wreak all kinds of havoc in the end!!!

Another great, George Carlin, said this once...

"Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups."

With everything we're seeing nowadays, esp. in Texas and Florida, I don't underestimate them at all! disbelief

But, I guess they'll just have to learn the hard way, won't they??? no
