The Company used to pay all positions top dollar (1970's-1980's), but now only Department Leaders and or Assistant Department Leader made decent $$. Didn't they tell you what your wage was when getting hired? You can't complain about your earnings if you agreed to whatever they offered.

You seem to forget some people have other fees taken out such as that worthless union fee or maybe they have insurance? The OP didnt mention anything about or complain about being paid per hour.

The last time I checked, Kroger was the fourth worst paying corporation in America.

Probably worse now, as McDonald's, Target, and probably Walmart are paying better.

That's why people seem to do only a half a$$ job. You get what you pay for. As for me, if I was paid say only $5.00 to work, youd get ONLY $5.00 worth of work. No more, no less.

You agree to the pay, you complain about the check........so what are you still working there? I say common sense stuff, which obviously is lacking in some people thought process. If the grass is greener on the other side, jump ship!! Also, everyone's checks have some type of deduction, again another thing you agreed to when you joined the Union or wanted Insurance. All grocery retailers pay is lower then specific/specialty retailers, food doesn't have the markup of Non-Foods items. McDonalds makes 1/2 of the price your paying in markup, has 50-100 orders an hour and small staff/locations. There is a reason why Walmart has large Non-Foods areas and are know to really hammer down the prices with manufactures. Walmart basically tell manufactures what price they will pay for an item, and then just looks for a manufacture that agrees to the price.

So what does a $15.00 job look like? Maybe the company is only paying lower wages because some people only give/do a half ass job? I know this isn't he case with everyone, but isn't capitalism all about paying the "market rate"? If no one signed on wages would be driven up....

Minimum wage slave jockey. that's all you are. This is why they can't keep people they refuse to give livable wages. I'm contracted into journeyman pay so I sort of suck it up for the higher pay.

Didn't you post this on reddit to?  Minimum wage + 10-20% taxes = unlivable paycheck. If you can room mate to save exepenses then work your @$$ of to journeyman you'll be at a more livable pay check.
