Try this wacky experiment: stop making them. And then k e e p not making them. And don't waver no matter who cries and whines how ever much. 100% odds are, SOMEbody else gon start making them bales.

Oh: and be ready to be busy when management starts hunting you down to do it. Be helping customers or something that can't be trumped biggrin

I read in the other bale post someone said their store had 2 bailers. The store I worked at only had one bailer. It did not take long to get full and one time I was helping Drug GM bailer was almost full.

I wanted to make one more round and then make a bale. So I mashed it down so it would not pop all the way up. One of the Assistants told me to take the key out and go get the other load, I took the key out went and got the rest of the cardboard.

The General Manager got so mad he said a few cuss words. I told him if other people would help and make a bale then we would not have a problem. The last General Manager was mean as I have posted before. He was a pure out ******* that is why he is no longer at that store he got that Assistant Manager fired and I was told he laughed about it, But that same day his laughing ass got transferred to another store.

Oh and some advice on Christmas Eve if you are working go ahead and make a Bale about an hour before the store closes. The last Christmas I worked a bale was made about 15 minutes and guess what? The bale broke, So just to be safe go ahead make one an hour before the store closes.

Bakery and deli don't make bales because like the front end, they have to wait on customers.  Our produce department people make bales all the time.  Isn't making bales part of grocery's ELMS hours anyway?  Making bales is part of the job if you work in grocery.  It would be like a customer service clerk complaining that people in other departments don't go out and bring in bascarts from the parking lot.

Whomever fills it should make the bale. Its not hard. Some people are just lazy, including night crew.

Wrong its you lazy piss poor morning evening crews that fill the **** up and dont change it. You a$$holes in the evening time  just leave your baskets with cardboard by the bailer when its full and clock out. Well guess what its still there waiting for morning crew to do it.

If you dump cardboard in the baler  then your are also entitled to make a bale. making bales is part of EVERY departments job. But the typical fat asses in bakery and deli use any excuse to avoid physical labor. Id expect as much. if you can cram several pastries and donut holes in your chops than you can take out 8 mins to do a bale. Well even give a fat ass grace period of 15 mins free piece of cake for the effort.

Tying a bale is not hard. The only thing I hate about making bales is that some idiots throw plastic bags,or other items not belonging in the baler. And when the baler kicks out the bale onto a pallet (IF people are smart enough to put one there to catch the bale) you wheel it to its spot via a pallet jack.
We have had however, people kick out the bale onto the floor instead of a pallet and leave it there.
